BeeHost is fine, but fine is not good enough. While BeeHost is a decent web host, you can get better quality hosting at a cheaper price with Hostinger, for example.
Vietnam-based BeeHost has been providing shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, domain registration, and email solutions since 2009.
BeeHost’s highly informative website is in Vietnamese. Its knowledge base is available in other languages, but not all of them appear to be working.
Features and Ease of Use
BeeHost’s three shared hosting plans — Pay 1 Time, Enterprise, and Agency — have the following features in common:
- Unlimited storage
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Free SSL
- Cron jobs
- Folder protection
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- Unlimited FTP accounts
- Free installation
- DirectAdmin control panel
- Free domain
- Log access
- Site redirection
While all three plans come with similar resources, they differ in the number of hosted websites and email accounts. For example, the Pay 1 Time package comes with one hosted website and five email accounts, whereas the Enterprise and Agency packages include 5 and 50 hosted websites respectively, and 50 and 500 email accounts respectively.
Although many hosts provide the easy-to-use cPanel control panel to manage your hosting, BeeHost seems to have standardized on the DirectAdmin control panel. I find it harder to use, and it doesn’t have as many features and plugins as cPanel. However, it does gives you access to webmail, a file manager, admin options, and more.
To set up your website, BeeHost supports CMS systems (such as Joomla, Magento, WordPress, and Drupal) and programming tools (such as PHP and MySQL).
I like the fact that this vendor’s packages come equipped with a set of security measures, including free SSL, folder protection, and an anti-hack feature. These features should give you some peace of mind and help you sleep at night, and you might sleep even better when you hear about BeeHost’s 99.99% uptime.
Pricing and Support
Upon switching currencies to U.S. dollars in the client area, I discovered that BeeHost’s prices are much higher than other popular vendors. On the bright side, you get a free domain with every annual subscription, plus free website transfer and three months’ free service if you do transfer your site.
All of BeeHost’s subscriptions are billed on a yearly basis (no monthly option), but the 30-day money-back guarantee should make you feel better about making an annual commitment. Pay by PayPal, bank transfer, or the Bao Kim electronic wallet.
Despite offering a range of communication channels (live chat, email, ticket, and telephone), I was unable to summon the support team by email or live chat. If you have to resort to self-support, you’ll be pleased to find BeeHost’s well-stocked knowledge base, as long as you speak Vietnamese or rely on your browser’s translation:
