WARNING WARNING totally scams do not deal with them. After they took $462.80 I didn’t get anything done now I’m fighting them to get my money back. No luck so far. They even scam PayPal they provide them with a Feak document says they provide me t he service when they didn’t What a waste of time and money I been waiting for 3 months for them to provide me a website design Finally they show me a demo they won’t let me use it until I pay them more. When I refused pay them more what we deal they took the whole money and stop responding. Then I find out that they are not a web designer company they use people from outside the US Pay them nothing for a bad job that doesn’t even function.

Most designers are amateur. Also, be aware that unless you pay for extra privacy settings, all the candidates' designs of your work, including any personal information in the text, will be forever public and searchable by google. Very bad for your bu siness and SEO.

I had a very small project as a test run to see what design crowd could offer in the at of redesigning my brochures. A very simple job of replacing a picture with a new one as well as changing some font with the logo. Needing approx. 2000 brochures for an event, I was in a bit of a hurry after a week of waiting for "maria" to get back to me with a draft, I soon realized that this simple project was either not being worked on or little to no effort was being put in to finish it. After a month of back and forth with the "designer", the end product I received was something I would consider done by someone with little experience in design. I decided to give up on working with design crowd, I paid the bill and did not bother finishing the project with them. Using design crowd seems like the less expensive, you get what you pay for, type experience and I would not recommend them based on my experience. The hassle I was put through in dealing with the designer for an extremely simple project was unacceptable in my opinion.

I'm a member for a long time, and every time I have to contact support to get PAID. I never trusted the organization and transparency of the website, so I keep track of everything I made for them and fight for every penny. But now they are refusing t o make a few payments. They take days to respond and they request prove; good thing I have them... NOT REALLY... even showing the prove they KEEP DENYING to pay. I suggest you stay away, but if you want to take some risks, please save every prove you can and fight for your money. Will not be easy, but you can win few times. Good luck!

This was our first time using DesignCrowd and we couldn't be happier. We recently moved to a small farm and wanted a logo designed. We submitted our brief and received over 20 designs within 48 hours (some within a few hours). One design stood out be yond the rest and we selected it before the end of the design period.Again, very happy with the logo designed for us and with the whole DesignCrowd experience. We will gladly recommend DesignCrowd to others.Thank you.

I'm so happy I chose DesignCrowd! The image for a logo for my new business turned out better than I could've imagined. The designers really listened to my feedback and made adjustments when requested and always did so in a timely manner. There were a couple of times I called customer service and they were extremely courteous and very helpful. I would definitely recommend DesignCrowd to friends. I look forward to using them again for future projects. Thank you!

I wanted a logo for a new business start up and have never undertaken crowd sourcing anything previously. The process was presented as relatively simple and easy, and I took the plunge and bought the basic $249 package for a 10 day competition. Yo ur presented with 'recommendations' along the competition journey that suggest you invite more designers, increase your budget, or buy other services, but nothing compelling. I didn't opt for any of these extras and there's nothing done to make you spend more if you don't want. This may sound obvious, but the Brief was the most important part of the whole process and it's important that you nail this as best you can. The more effort you spend on your Brief will mean the better quality of designs you receive. Or so I thought; what you get is a relatively high proportion of rubbish designs from designers who either didn't read my Brief or didn't really care whether or not they got the job. I got the feeling the poor designs had been submitted by lazy designers that just 'churn' designs with very little effort and if they manage to hook a client, then it's a relatively low cost acquisition for them. The good news is, DesignCrowd make it easy to get rid of these low lifers in a diplomatic and polite way by excluding them from further submissions.I ended up with 64 designs of which we short listed three, and awarded one. The three short listed were keen to make changes to their initial design and put in the effort, which I appreciated. I got what I wanted and I hope they felt they got good feedback from me in return - it's important to do this regularly and I reviewed all new work daily to help the designers (and me).Reading some of the other feedback here I actually had to double check the other reviewers were talking about the same company. I can't say I experienced any failing in their product. In the end I was happy with my design, the cost, and service. I'd use DesignCrowd again, and I'd recommend their service.

ADAugust 1st, 2016I was a designer at designcrowd. I want to highlight how they believe politeness is only for the customers. Please do not use design crowd. They are all well and good until you realise the way they treat the designers t hat are working hard trying to make some kind of money knowing that with however many designers competing against them for the same prize they are unlikely to get it. I submitted a design for one project that, admittedly, was not my best piece of work, but it was not awful. I had stuck to the brief that the customer had given and provided them with a design that had still taken me quite some time to produce. Well, the designcrowd staff decided to reject it from the site before even letting the customer see it. There was no explanation as to why, so I contacted their customer service to politely ask why, expecting to get a polite response from someone who may have had at least a single hours worth of training on how is appropriate to behave when you work in customer service and how isn’t! Sadly I was wrong, as the email I got back was a rambling torrent of overkill from a service consultant called Carmela about how shit they thought my design was, and continuing on to how in their view (and I quote) it “lacks Elements of Design, such as Form, Space, Value, Line, Shape, etc. [Your] design also lacks Principles of Design, such as Contrast, Emphasis, Balance, Proportion, Harmony, and Rhythm” which (and I do not say this at all to support my work, I purely want to point out their inappropriate behaviour) was simply not true. The customer had provided a logo which I had texture slightly and then centred in the image. They had also provided a title, but no request as to how it was done, so I added that myself and worked it around the extents of the logo, then finally placed it all on a textured cloudy background. The client asked for a minimal clean design. I stuck to the brief. Appalled and insulted by their reply I wrote back to them to inform them as such. I informed them that I believed it was inappropriate for them to delete designers’ hard work before showing it to customers just because they don’t like the look of it. I then apologised in case my reply had come off rude, but reminded them I was actually quite insulted by how they had responded before. I therefore told them that I wanted no more to do with them and could they terminate my account as I don’t want to work in this way, I have far to much other stuff going on to be part of that. The reply I got back again was from Carmela, which I didn’t anticipate as I thought considering my email was a complaint about her behaviour, another member of staff would have handled it. Carmela very rudely replied once again that if I “can’t handle any criticism then I should look elsewhere! Thank you!” Frankly, appalled is the only way I can describe how I’m feeling. I’ve taught myself design work in a desperate attempt to try and find ways to help with finding my degree. I don’t enjoy making designs from terribly short briefs knowing that with 30 odd designers also working on the same brief I’m unlikely to get paid for my work anyway! This was not a hugely important matter. All designcrowd had to do was either not eliminate my design, or provide me with a decent reason as soon as they did, about why they did, without me having to chase them up to get one. And all this Carmela woman had to do was follow very basic customer service training. Neither of those things happened

BEWARE! Design Crowd DOES NOT REFUND 100% of your money if you don't like any of the designs. In the extremely fine print, there is a link to the actual refund policy, which is that they refund you 100% MINUS POSTING FEES, which are not specified an ywhere, until you call back to get the refund. For me it was $50! Use another service - this is false advertising, bad faith and just shady. I will never use this service again - there are plenty of other services that actually do refund you 100%

I got a logo designed by DesignCrowd. The design looked cheap, unprofessional and unmemorable. I wasted my money here. I called here several times, but didn't get any response from there side. After wrapping my first and the last project with Desig nCrowd, I started looking for some other alternatives and unfortunately Designhill made it very easy. Most of the logos were awesome and delivered in only 7 days. 24/7 Customer Support and they were able to answer any questions or concerns I had throughout the contest period.I received a number of creative and unique logos in very affordable price.

I wanted to get a business card designed with very specific instructions. On Saturday morning I purchased a package for $247.20 and I was supposed to have designs in 5 days. I have received an email from them on Sunday, saying they want me to email m y credit card over for security check. I replied saying I am not emailing my credit card partial or not to anyone for security purposes, so call me instead. Monday morning I received another email requesting from me an emailed copy of my credit card, and yet again, no phone call. I had to call my bank to dispute and reverse the charge due to no service and no customer service received. At this day and age if you cannot figure out a proper and secure credit card processing system online, don't advertise for it. And reading all the other reviews, I am glad I didn't get to the design stage. It looks to me they stink at anything they do.

STAY AWAY!!! The designs were cheap looking. You could tell that some designers took 5 minutes to create the design. A lot of the designs used the same cheap looking clip art. They claimed I would get at least 75 designs, but in actuality I got aroun d 50. The 109 they said I got consisted of the same 50 designs in different colors or configurations from the same designers.I selected the 100% money back option and then received an email stating if I didn't pick a design in 13 days, DesignCrowd would pick a design for me and pay the designer. When I contacted the online customer service rep, I got the run around. I was trying to have a one page product comparison flyer produced. I uploaded high resolution photos, logos and even a sketch of what I was after. All they sent me were multiple copies of what appear to be 5 minutes by some person in front of a bas ic graphics program. My first submission said I had 6 designs. Close, one design, two copies of the same design, and three designs that were not even for me. The second submission, (after assurances from the site that they would take care of it) said I had three designs. Not even close this time. One "design" that was some sort of a stock template with 3 of my photos, and one graphic, the other 2 were literally templates for a business card that said "company name - your slogan here" That's it! I'm moving on, losing my $400.00 and I will try and warn anyone I can about this site.

When I try to explain to them that they did not provide what they promised me -- 20 designs over a 5 day period, they simply repeat that I "Guaranteed" payment. They tell me they will "call me back with a decision" but never do.Basically, design crowd promised me 20 designs to choose from, failed to perform, and decided to keep my money. This company is super-unethical and shows zero interest in providing the service provided once they have your money, and obviously has zero value for a customer. I was told if I tried Design Crowd and did not like the art for my business logo my money would be refunded. However, within Design Crowd's software it prompts you to vote on the best logo even if you dont necessarily want it. This waives any refun ds. Not only was the design disproportionate and terrible the artist does not speak my language as he is from India. The only option I have from design crowd is that I lose $195.00 even though the art is terrible and if I want, they will have a sales rep translate between me and artist to try and get the art right. This is a horrific and unbelievable sleizy tatic that consumers cannot afford

This was my first time using Designcrowd and within one week I submitted two projects. My first project was completed within a few hours and I was very pleased about the results. That is when I met Goh via online and I love his work. Uploading this p roject was no problems and he tweaked it for $69.00. I was so excited about my 1st logo and I immediately submitted a new logo to be tweak for $99.00 and Goh ask for more money $100 to actually redo the logo. Wow, I am very very pleased with the results. I do recommend Goh. He responds promptly and well to all your emails. He communicates upfront about his approach and let you know straight up if it cost most. At first, I was confused about the pricing but the end results are priceless. Again, thanks Goh.Now, I am not happy about DC storing my bank information. Upon, me trying to upload my 2nd project I had some difficulties. As I was trying to start a paragrah after greeting Goh, I hitted the entered button expecting to move to the next line and it processed a payment $99.00. Immediately, I was upset to learn my credit card information was stored and a payment was processed without pushing the correct button to submit payment. At the same time, I didnt have the opportunity to upload any information. Meantime, I called customer service whom never returned any of my phones about my concern. That is when I stay calm and returned to the website to find this project was stored under my account and I resumed uploading pertinent information. The point of sharing is the website is user friendly and please be aware your credit information is saved. BUT THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN AND I WAS OPEN. I EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND HE WAS VERY SUPPORTIVE. AGAIN THANKS GOH

I wrote a very specific brief, requesting a powerpoint presentation to be created from speech notes. The designer didn't read the speech notes, didn't adhere to the brief, supplied a powerpoint template, not a presentation, when asked to fill in the powerpoint, they added clip art (specifically requested no text, clip art, or cartoons) and it was supplied over 1 week late. I had to start from scratch and create it myself, and when I asked for my money back, had to send 10 email replies to inane questions, to then only be offered a small partial refund.Do not use Design Crowd if you a. want a usable design b. would like to get value for money

The set up process is confusing and unclear. I started a non-guaranteed contest to try out the service for designing a website banner/header. The results were completely terrible and the number of results didn't even come close to what the website sa id I would get. I extended the contest and changed it to guaranteed (for payment to a designer) as it seemed to be the only way to get decent results. The website states that DesignCrowd will work with you if you still don't get results you want. The results were still really lacking - very few designers participated and the quality was bad. Customer service extended the contest again (3 weeks now) and reached out to designers. After another week, only a couple more designers submitted designs (better quality), but still not at all what I felt was promised by the site and the quality was still not what we were looking for. At this point, I asked for a refund. In the end, DesignCrowd only refunded me 60% of what I paid and I got 0 results. I agreed so I could move on and stop wasting my time with a low quality service that clearly doesn't respect their customers. Great waste of $85 and 3+ weeks. Time to hire a professional designer and move on.If you use this service, be prepared to receive terrible results, pay for results you aren't satisfied with, or waste weeks and weeks trying to get what the service promises up front.Really disappointed both in the service itself, but especially the terrible customer service. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE TO ANYONE.

I highly suggest you use someone else. They do not really do 100% money back guarantee as advertised. They take a percentage and then take their time getting you a partial refund. The designs are boring, you could make the same ones yourself. I was shocked at the paint shop type of work I was seeing. They rip you off and it seems like this is their motive.

Don't get sucked into using design crowd. For a bit of fun I tried out Fiverr to see what designs came back. For $5 I wasn't too concerned and it was a bit of a learning experience for me. I found design crowd and saw they were an Australian company and their starting price was $270. I expected a much higher level of work. Instead, the designers that responded were mostly Indian and the quality was at the same level as Fiverr. Why would you spend $270 when you can get exactly the same level of quality for $5. This site is completely misleading. The recommendation is to go for the top price package but if you were to do that I suggest you just employ your own designer. The refund is not 100% so if you want to be dissatisfied and lose money then use design crowd.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with designcrowd. I am a first time user of the site with a small business that I wanted a new look because I am expanding my business. I had a small budget and wasn't sure about using this site but wanted to get some designs from designers outside my local community. I used the smallest budget possible and expected it to take a while to get some good designs. After just one day I had ten good designs (and only three others that looked like they weren't really trying). I invited a few more designers to my project and by day four I had ten more designs. I commented on all the designs and those that I asked for improvement on submitted their changes very quickly. What I thought would be an easy choice turned into a very difficult one because most of the designers were very thoughtful and had some great design ideas for me.

Do NOT use designcrowd under any circumstances. I have NEVER written an online review before, but my experience with designcrowd was so bad that it has pushed me to do so. For starters, don't believe a word on the home page. I had only about 10 or 15 designs submitted for my project. But even then, what they call a design is rather disingenuous. I have an app with 5 screens, and they count the layout for each screen as a design. When they said design, I expected that a design was a design for the entire app. Then when the submission deadline for my designs had passed, I messaged customer service to tell them I was disappointed in having paid so much ($400) to receive so few designs...They didn't even respond. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

It seems that design contests are a crap shoot for all involved. DesignCrowd is my least liked crowdsourcing site. It needs a much greater level of transparency. It helps designers to know the actual product or company they're designing for. I think the contest holders must receive almost no guidance in the brief writing section as they often have to be asked for logos and accompany files. Briefs, in general, are often vague to the point where the unknown variables far outweigh the known. Designers like to see their competition...if not during then, at least after the closing of the contest. Only the winning design is displayed. As with most design contests, feedback is lacking. There ain't much to do to get the contest holders to offer feedback. I always try to leave a comment meant to eliict a response...if it doesn't come, I don't join. PeriodDesignCrowd is my last choice of sites to participate on...until greater transparency is achieved its almost pointless to participate.

This site works by you paying up front for designs you haven't seen, and then having designers throw complete crap at you for the chance that you'll pick them. Because there is probably a one in thirty chance any design will get picked and designs ha ve to be completed before they are submitted, the designers have an incentive to design something that doesn't take them a lot of time in the event they'll get lucky and you'll pick them.Working with a single designer is a bigger bang for your buck. They know they are the only one competing and so they actually submit quality designs because it's worth their time.Design crowd isn't worth the designer's time or yours.

I tried DesignCrowd recently and I would strongly say: STAY AWAY! Here's why:I was lured to their 100% satisfaction guarantee. After putting in the design brief, you play around with the budget. I was promised 50-65 designs from 23 designers for the amount I specified. After you make the payment, you keep getting bombarded with messages on the site as well as via email that you should add all sorts of PAID upgrades to ensure you get designs. You are also introduced to their REAL cancellation policy: only the amount to the designer is refundable. The DesignCrowd fees are NOT.I have waited a few days only to receive one "serious" offer from a designer which included 5 variations which were roughly the same (move something a little here or there or change color). 2 more designers made some horrible designs that I would be ashamed to even bring up. In total 3 designers and 15 variations of the same 3 designs. Nothing like the 50-65 and 23 designers.I have contacted DesignCrowd already at the start asking about the low turnout. All I could get was, please upgrade or invite designers. They also said they would send invites on my behalf. This resulted in several spam emails per day say: designer X accepted (and usually rejected) your invitation. Who cares??? They also included regular CRM emails urging me to upgrade my contest (paid) to get more offers. When trying to cancel the contest and get a refund, they would not let me do that for 10 days until the official close of the contest and then they wanted another week to process it. In any case, they would not refund THEIR fee. So at the end of the day, they want to make money even though the buyer did not get what he wanted and the designers did not get anything. Nice marketplace!I have to mention that I ran a contest with 99Designs where the results were not much better. Although 99Designs insisted on calling them via phone to cancel, they did make a FULL refund.I think that the promise of a design contest sounds nice in theory, in practice it proved a waste of time and money for me. Better to spend a little more time evaluating designers and commissioning one or two for a small project and if you are happy, for more work.Best of luck!

The Review Factors:

Pricing

8.5

Pricing on DesignCrowd is a little tricky. On the one hand, the minimum price is very good for a contest website ($240 including service fees). On the other, a glance at the actual contests shows that most of them don’t go much lower than $400. This doesn’t mean you can’t get a good contest going for less, but it could mean that the better designers would be reluctant to participate in it.

Then again the price packages are customizable, so you don’t have to jump to the next package to improve your chances. DesignCrowd also offers some small additions that could help draw in designers, such as a $20 participation fee for the top runner ups or the option to give up your refund guarantee and commit to awarding a prize.

High Quality Design Work That Beats The Rest

When we look at the quality of designs offered by all of our logo content companies, we have to put DesignCrowd up there because they hold some very talented designers who can offer nothing but the best quality, usability and a keen eye for detail. The designs are so clean, strong and unique that some of them even beat design studios, but what makes DesignCrowd so good is that you can hire an upcoming designer for a great price, before they hit the big time and start charging big amounts.

Features

9

A Serviceable Brief

Even though it doesn’t get into all the specifics, the DesignCrowd brief is still fairly detailed. They also deserve special mention for allowing you to choose (for free!) how long your contest will last.

Additional Features

DesignCrowd’s Features Make Customer Satisfaction a Priority

I won’t say much about DesignCrowd’s testimonial page, not because it isn’t good (it is) but because the website has so many other great features that this seems so small in comparison. I’m talking about a great designer profile interface in which you can filter designers by earnings, positive feedback and more. I’m also talking about a freelance option that lets you approach specific designers and hire them for a one-on-one job.

Then I should mention that DesignCrowd is one of the only contest websites that lets you give contest participants individual feedback – largely because each entry is private, which is a great way to ensure originality and creativity. At the same time, if you want to get a second opinion you can always share your contest entries with friends and get their input. These features have one thing in common: They’re all about putting the customer and the final product first.

User Friendly

A Great Looking Website With a Few Usability Issues

With their cute icons and thoughtful color scheme, it’s obvious DesignCrowd put a lot of effort into their website. The result looks and feels great, but unfortunately doesn’t entirely translate to a user-friendly experience. Part of this is because this isn’t strictly a logo design service so there’s a lot of extra content to go through. The rest of it is because DesignCrowd’s navigation isn’t always as intuitive as it could be – you could spend some quality time snooping around for the gallery page before you find it hiding below the fold or behind another link.

Luckily posting a contest isn’t nearly as confusing. There’s a clearly marked link at the top of each page which sends you to the signup form and from there to the creative brief, the payment process and the beginning of your contest.
At the contest stage you’ll be asked to give feedback and comment on the designs you receive. After picking a winner, DesignCrowd will move you to the helpful “design handover” phase (and special page), where you can talk to the winning designer, request small changes and finally download your logo files.

Support

10

Any Time, Any Place

I sure do love DesignCrowd’s support. Besides their active Twitter and Facebook accounts they also have a great FAQ page, an email contact option and even a live chat box for the purchasing stage – at least during business hours. Of course you could always just pick up the phone and call them, but then you’d have to choose between the 7 (yes) different international numbers they provide. Life is just hard that way. The support you’ll get, by the way, will be as prompt and efficient as any in the business.
