The only downside here is that once you select a template you cannot change it midway—you would have to start over.

Solid customization: HTML access offers an excellent opportunity to tweak elements so you can build a website that truly meets your needs. If you do not want to mess around with code, there is still a lot you can easily customize using the WYSIWYG editor, including the font and font color, color scheme, and background images.

Mobile responsive: All WebStarts themes are responsive, ensuring that your website looks as great on mobile as it does on a desktop. Unfortunately, this feature is only available on the Pro Plus and Business plans, even though most of WebStarts’ competitors offer mobile optimization as a standard feature.

Blog: WebStarts’ Blog Manager lets you create, schedule, format and publish posts. The editor feels a little bit clunky with few layout options and very basic text formatting options—the most you can do to format texts is to bold, italicize, create a heading, or add a link. Adding pictures or videos to posts using the editor is cumbersome, and this can be off-putting if you are looking to create media-rich blog posts.

eCommerce:  The online store function is only available to Business users. This feature lets you list a product for sale (physical or digital) but customers are directed to a third party checkout outside of your website—some backend setup is needed for this. Payments can be processed through several platforms including Authorize, WePay, Stripe, and PayPal. You can customize the look of your store using the available design themes and by adding custom images and text. You can filter products based on options such as color and size, and you can easily track inventory.

Membership System: Few website builders offer a feature that lets you set up a page for members only.  With WebStarts, setting this up is as simple as dragging and dropping the membership app onto a page. Your Members Only page allows you to  manually or automatically approve members.

WebStarts’ dashboard feels cluttered with ads but the site editor is more minimalist and easier to use. Building your website is as simple as clicking an element, which is then placed on the toolbar. From there, you can drop the element where you want and resize it to your liking, which gives you significant control you’re your website’s layout, in contrast to other site builders whose responsive design limits the element’s location and size.

No Messing with Code but HTML Access Is Available.

WebStarts is ideal for both beginners and those with some coding knowledge. As a WYSIWYG drag and drop website builder, WebStarts lets you design a fully functional website just buy moving elements around—no tweaking with code is required.

If you want to fundamentally change the look of your website, the ‘Insert Code’ or ‘Edit HTML code’ feature makes it easy to add code to the designated window on your site. Once you insert the code, just drag the resultant widget to a desired location on the page to build a custom element.

One of the first things that strikes you when you first land on the WebStarts website is the support phone number prominently displayed at the top of every page. Pro Plus and Business plan subscribers can call the support staff on this number any time.

It is commendable that all users, even those on the free plan, have access to live chat which lets you speak to one of the company’s staff directly if you need immediate help.

The email ticketing system is also effective. I required technical support and believed that live chat would not provide sufficient answers to my questions. Therefore, I sent an email and was pleasantly surprised when the tech support team responded within two hours.

WebStarts is slightly more expensive than some of its competitors such as Wix and Spacesquare, both of which offer better features in comparison.

Mobile responsive websites are a standard feature on even the basic plans offered by other builders. However, this feature is only available for Pro Plus and Business users on WebStarts. The eCommerce function is also not free—it is only accessible on the most expensive tier (i.e. the Business plan).
