At first glance, the SoftHostPlus website looks really good, and its hosting plans look plausible. But digging deeper reveals a knowledge base populated with placeholder text, and there's no way to contact the company before purchasing a plan.

Overview

SoftHostPlus

Website hosting company SoftHostPlus has offices in Florida (USA), São Paulo (Brazil), and London (U.K.). It was founded in 2015, and it has a modern, easy-to-use website which is available in English.

Features and Ease of Use

SoftHostPlus offers a range of hosting services, including shared hosting, dedicated servers, VPS packages, and domain name registration. As standard, its shared hosting plans come with these core features:

  • 99.99% uptime guarantee
  • Backup and restore
  • Domain registration available
  • Up to 15 databases
  • SSL certificates available
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Up to 2 GB disk space

All of the shared hosting plans come with the popular cPanel control panel. Its easy-to-use interface includes website building tools plus features for managing email accounts and databases.

Although the SoftHostPlus website indicates a 99.99% uptime guarantee, there is nothing in the terms or the SLA to tell us what compensation may be payable in the event of excessive downtime. Of greater concern to me is the fact that some sections of the vendor’s website contain dummy text, so it feels incomplete in places.

Pricing and Support

The lower-tier plans are very cheap, but the provided 500 MB of disk space is likely to be too little for all but the smallest websites. For more meaningful storage, you’d have to purchase one of the two more expensive higher-tier plans. You’ll also have to factor in the extra costs of a domain name and SSL certificate. Unfortunately, there is no money-back guarantee and no free trial, so you have to take a leap of faith when signing up.

Unless I’m mistaken, it seems to be impossible to contact this company before making a purchase. There is no advertised telephone number or email address as far as I can see, and the “Contact Us” link leads to a login page. Therefore, pre-sales support seems to be limited to a minimal knowledge base and a set of frequent questions populated with Latin placeholder text:

Bottom line on SoftHostPlus

SoftHostPlus seems to be all spin and no substance. Its sleek website belies the facts that you can’t contact the company before making a purchase and the “frequent questions” contain placeholder text. Short of taking the plunge and purchasing a plan to seeing what happens, It’s hard to tell (and impossible to confirm) if this hosting business is in business at all. It’s a pity because the SoftHostPlus website looks so promising.

Pros

  • The lower-tier plans are cheap
  • The control panel is cPanel
  • Backup and restore is included in the plans
  • There is unlimited bandwidth

Cons

  • It’s impossible to contact the company
  • The uptime guarantee is vague
