Canadian Web Hosting and Web Hosting Canada may seem very similar, but there are a few important differences you should know about.
I tested both Canadian hosting services across multiple categories, including pricing, features, performance, and support. Despite the similarities between them, Web Hosting Canada won the battle.
What makes Web Hosting Canada better? For starters, it offers cheaper WordPress hosting prices and a free domain.

1. Plans and Pricing
Web Hosting Canada Offers Cheaper WordPress Hosting and Better Value for Your Money
Canadian Web Hosting and Web Hosting Canada offer pretty much the same hosting solutions, from shared hosting and WordPress hosting to dedicated servers.
Canadian Web Hosting’s WordPress hosting subscription terms are limited to monthly and annually. With Web Hosting Canada, you can choose to subscribe monthly, quarterly, annually, biennially, or triennially.
Web Hosting Canada doesn’t only offer more features and free extras with its WordPress hosting plans, but it also offers cheaper prices than Canadian Web Hosting – even after renewal. For example, the highest-tier plan (WP Beast) renews at a much cheaper cost than Canadian Web Hosting’s medium-value plan (Standard).
Canadian Web Hosting doesn’t offer a free domain name registration, but Web Hosting Canada does. Canadian Web Hosting offers a 60-day money-back guarantee, while web Hosting Canada offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Web Hosting Canada beats Canadian Web Hosting in the pricing round, thanks to its cheaper package renewal rates and more value-added freebies.
Web Hosting Canada Is Better for WordPress
Canadian Web Hosting and Web Hosting Canada each offer three fully managed WordPress hosting packages with daily backups, automatic updates, and free site transfer.
With Web Hosting Canada, you can get from 10 GB to 50 GB full SSD storage, 1 WordPress website, and from 25,000 to 500,000 monthly visitors. All Web Hosting Canada’s WordPress hosting plans also include a free Cloudflare CDN and a free SSL certificate. Higher-value plans include one-click staging tools to help you make edits and updates on a live copy of your website.
On the other hand, on Canadian Web Hosting’s WordPress hosting plans, you can host 1-10 WordPress websites. It also gives you 10 GB to 100 GB regular storage space, and unlimited bandwidth.
Take a look at the following table to compare more features between the two services:
|Canadian Web Hosting||Web Hosting Canada|
|Hosting Types||Shared (Linux & Windows), cloud (Linux & Windows), managed WordPress hosting, email hosting, reseller, VPS (Linux & Windows), dedicated server (Linux & Windows)||Shared, cloud VPS, reseller, managed WordPress hosting, dedicated servers (Linux & Windows)|

|Free SSL Certificate||✔||✔|

Web Hosting Canada easily wins the features round, thanks to its SSD powered WordPress hosting packages and useful inclusive features such as an SSL certificate (free with all WP plans and higher-value shared hosting plans) and a CDN.
Web Hosting Canada Offers Better Performance
Canadian Web Hosting promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but when I tested it using Uptime Robot over a period of 30 days, it showed an average actual uptime of 99.98%, which exceeded this guarantee.
Canadian Web Hosting only has servers in Canada and doesn’t offer any speed-boosting features, such as a CDN (places your website on a global network of servers to boost loading speeds), so I didn’t expect much. However, when I tested the loading speeds using Sucuri, I didn’t expect such a failure. The results were actually inconclusive, as most server locations failed to connect – resulting in an overall disappointing score of an F.
I moved on to the final stage, where I used GTmetrix to test the overall performance of my website hosted on Canadian Web Hosting. Again, I was disappointed to see it score a D at 67% – which reminded me of my high school history exam.
Moving on to the competitor. Web Hosting Canada also promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee. When I tested it with Uptime Robot over the same period of 30 days it showed an actual uptime of 99.917% which is less than its competitor, but it still exceeded its promise. This means that over 30 days, my website on Web Hosting Canada experienced slightly more downtime than with Canadian Web Hosting.
Unlike Canadian Web Hosting, all of Web Hosting Canada’s plans come with SSD storage, which performs much faster than the regular HDD storage and in return, reflects positively on the loading speed and overall performance of the website.
Like Canadian Web Hosting, Web Hosting Canada only has servers in Canada. However, it offers free a CDN with its WordPress hosting plans (even though I don’t use one when testing loading speeds, to get a fair evaluation).
That being said, I tested Web Hosting Canada’s loading speeds from different locations around the world using Sucuri. To my surprise, it scored an F and showed very slow loading speeds from most locations.
Last but not least, I tested Web Hosting Canada’s overall performance with GTmetrix and it scored a B at 88%. Even though it’s not the best score, it’s still much better than that of Canadian Web Hosting.
Even though Web Hosting Canada showed a slightly lower uptime than Canadian Web Hosting, and it showed slow loading speeds, its overall performance far exceeded that of Canadian Web Hosting, making it the clear winner in the performance round.
It’s a Tie Between Canadian Web Hosting and Web Hosting Canada
Canadian Web Hosting protects all its shared servers with the ConfSys firewall which is native to WHM/Linux. In addition, all accounts are pre-configured with Immunity360, BitNinja, and CP Hulk. All these protect your website from external cyber threats such as DDoS/Brute-Force attacks.
On the other hand, Web Hosting Canada uses firewall protection to secure your website against harmful hackers and unwanted external threats. In addition, all shared server accounts come with Brute-Force protection, DDoS protection, and the higher plans come with Anti-Malware protection.
Both hosts secure the email accounts hosted with antivirus and anti-spam. Both hosts also apply 24/7 server monitoring to be able to act fast in case of any issues arising.
Both hosts here take the security of your website quite seriously by offering a decent range of security features and measures. When it comes to security, it’s a tie.
Web Hosting Canada Offers More Responsive Support
While Canadian Web Hosting’s website is only available in English, Web Hosting Canada’s website is available in both English and French. Other than that, both hosts offer resourceful websites with knowledge base sections covering most major topics.
Both hosts’ customer support teams are available 24/7 via live chat, phone, email, and support ticket. With both hosts, I tried the live chat and the support ticket channels to check their responsiveness and see how helpful the support agents are.
With Canadian Web Hosting’s live chat, I received an instant reply and all my questions were answered. The reply to the support ticket came within an hour, which is also not bad. Both replies were detailed and helpful.
Like its competitor, I was connected instantly to one of Web Hosting Canada’s live chat representatives, who was knowledgeable. I was also pleased to receive a response to my support ticket within 15 minutes.
Canadian Web Hosting has very good customer support. However, Web Hosting Canada’s faster support ticket response is what makes it win the support round.
Canadian Web Hosting Loses Out to Web Hosting Canada
Both Canadian Web Hosting and Web Hosting Canada have put up a good fight. They’re both good options for Canadian users, especially beginners. However, Web Hosting Canada is the winner, beating Canadian Web Hosting in most categories.
