Worldpay Review: Features, Fees, and Contract Terms in 2025

Headshot of Ivana Shteriova Written by: Ivana Shteriova

Worldpay is a versatile payment processor that caters to businesses of all sizes – from small startups to large enterprises, including high-risk sectors such as iGaming and travel. It offers 60+ payment methods, international and multicurrency processing, and industry-specific tools. Like most processors, it lacks transparency in pricing. However, if you carefully review your contract, Worldpay can be a reliable choice.

A Versatile, Scalable Processor With Global Reach

Worldpay homepage
Worldpay offers flexible payment solutions for businesses of all sizes and industries

Worldpay is a global processor that works with businesses of all sizes – from local retailers to multinational enterprises. It supports in-store, online, and omnichannel payment solutions and is used across a wide range of industries.

Its advanced security features and compliance tools make it a great fit for higher-risk sectors, such as cryptocurrency, iGaming, and travel. There are industry-specific options available for software platforms, subscription-based businesses, and other types of organizations. Smaller businesses expecting to grow may find value in next-day settlements, free hardware (with a long-term contract), and custom pricing based on their transaction volume.

Worldpay operates in 146 countries and supports 135 currencies, including the US dollar, the euro, the British pound, and the Canadian dollar. It also accepts over 60 payment methods and offers multicurrency processing, which is helpful if you serve customers across different regions. While the system boasts a wide range of features and supports complex operations, the platform is relatively user-friendly.

Worldpay uses interchange plus pricing, but it doesn’t publicly share pricing information. One reason is that its rates are negotiable and tailored to your business type, processing volume, and needs. This can work in your favor, but it also means you’ll need to get a quote and read the terms closely.

Based on my extensive research and analysis of user feedback, Worldpay is a viable option worth considering. Read on to see whether it’s the right processor for your business.

Features

Robust Feature Set, Including Global and High-Risk Solutions

Worldpay offers one of the most comprehensive feature sets compared to other major processors. It supports multiple payment methods and currencies across channels and borders. With a robust point-of-sale (POS) setup, e-commerce customization, industry-specific solutions, and hundreds of integrations, Worldpay delivers an enterprise-grade infrastructure at any processing volume. It’s also one of the few processors that cater to high-risk industries.

Flexible POS Solutions for Brick-And-Mortar & Hybrid Businesses

Worldpay in-person payment processing solutions
Worldpay prioritizes 360 Commerce POS solutions, but is compatible with various brands

Worldpay offers a range of POS solutions for retail, salons, restaurants, and other in-person or hybrid businesses. Its hardware comes from reputable brands like GoDaddy, Ingenico, and Verifone, and in some cases, you can use hardware you already own. The flexibility extends to offering rental and purchase options. New merchants get a free 360 Commerce POS terminal, Newland910, or Poynt C.

You can choose from countertop, mobile, and tablet terminals, which support chip and PIN, contactless payments, and digital wallets. All devices are equipped with inventory management, customer engagement tools, real-time reporting, and access to a wide range of apps and integrations for accounting, booking, and more.

If you operate a tourist-heavy business, Worldpay’s POS stands out with its dynamic currency conversion capability. It can convert prices instantly, at the point of sale, offering a sense of familiarity to your international customers.

An Abundance of E-Commerce Tools for Every Business Type

Worldpay offers a wide range of e-commerce tools suited to businesses of all sizes. Unlike many processors that support only one gateway, Worldpay offers several options, including its own Commerce360 and integrations with Authorize.net and other providers.

Its proprietary shopping cart, Web Cart, can be used as either a standalone checkout or a fully-hosted online store. It supports recurring billing, digital downloads, and flexible checkout setups. Worldpay also integrates seamlessly with dedicated e-commerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento.

Payouts aren’t instant by default, but Worldpay provides next-business-day funding as standard, and you can get same-day payouts for a small monthly fee. Worldpay also offers FastAccess, a rare feature that enables transfers to beneficiaries within 30 minutes. This feature is ideal for businesses like travel agencies and service providers that need to distribute funds to sub-merchants quickly.

Additionally, features like automated retries for failed payments, payment due updates, and automatic card updates to existing stored customer records help reduce churn and increase payment success rates.

Industry-Specific & High-Risk Solutions

Worldpay includes tools and integrations designed to meet your specific payment needs

Worldpay serves a broad range of industries, including retail, hospitality, software platforms, and the public sector, with tailored solutions that meet their specific needs. Retailers and restaurants can benefit from specialized POS features like table management, inventory tracking, and loyalty tools, while software platforms can leverage scalable APIs, partner onboarding, and multicurrency support.

Unlike most processors, Worldpay also works with high-risk industries, including cryptocurrency, travel, and financial services. This is thanks to its robust security infrastructure, which consists of advanced fraud detection, risk management tools, and chargeback support.

300+ Payment Methods With Support Across Channels and Borders

Worldpay advertised integrations with aeropay, affirm, and alipay
Wordpay offers one of the widest varieties of payment methods among processors

Worldpay merchants benefit from support for 300+ global payment methods (60+ in the US) and over 135 currencies – one of the most extensive selections in the industry. Your customers can pay with credit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, and local payment options. ACH payments and buy-now-pay-later options, such as Klarna, are also available.

Thanks to its omnichannel infrastructure, Worldpay connects in-store, online, and mobile transactions into a unified system. This enhances the customer experience and provides deeper insights. Customers can pay using their preferred method and currency across any channel, while you benefit from centralized settlement and unified reporting. More on that below.

Built-in Analytics and Reporting

You can oversee your business from a centralized dashboard that provides real-time analytics, transaction monitoring, and detailed reports. You can track sales trends, customer spending patterns, chargebacks, and generate custom reports by location, payment type, or period. You can also visualise your data in charts and graphs – a convenience you won’t get at less feature-rich processors.

The dashboard is accessible via web or app and integrates with various accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, allowing for smoother reconciliation and informed financial decisions.

Ease of use

A Robust Yet Intuitive Platform That Balances Power With Simplicity

The vetting process can take anywhere from a few business days to a couple of weeks, depending on factors such as business type, risk profile, and the documentation provided. That said, it’s a straightforward process, with support available throughout to guide you through compliance checks and paperwork. While not quite as plug-and-play as Square or Stripe, Worldpay strikes a great balance between enterprise-grade capabilities and user-friendly onboarding.

Getting Started With Worldpay

Signing up with Worldpay begins with an online application or direct contact with a sales representative. You’ll need to provide standard business documents, including business registration and personal identification documents, tax ID, and bank account information.

If you’re an established business, Worldpay may ask for your processing history, estimated monthly sales volume, and average transaction size. High-risk businesses, or those seeking global payment capabilities, may need to provide additional documentation.

Once approved, Worldpay will assist you in selecting the right POS hardware and configuring it to meet your specific requirements. For e-commerce, Worldpay emphasizes self-service but provides comprehensive resources, including developer documentation and a technical support team to assist you in the process. Worldpay’s onboarding may not be as instant as some competitors’, but its level of personalization can be a game-changer if you have specific needs.

Some Learning Curve To Master the Dashboard, but Worth It

Worldpay's advanced analytics tool interface
The broad functionality packed into the dashboard makes it a powerful tool once you master it

While most competitors provide real-time financial insights, Worldpay’s dashboard stands out for its comprehensive settlement management features, which are particularly beneficial if you have a high-volume business.

Worldpay’s interface is user-friendly and logically organized, but it may require more time to master due to its robustness. For example, some users have reported challenges in syncing the Worldpay Dashboard with existing business systems, such as EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) or accounting software.

Thankfully, Worldpay’s dashboard features a Try Mode. This feature enables you to simulate Virtual Terminal and Pay By Link transactions, generating Try API credentials to test e-commerce integrations with your website before going live.

In a nutshell, the learning curve is worthwhile if you want to enhance cash flow visibility, operational efficiency, and gain detailed financial oversight.

Hundreds of Integrations To Expand Functionality Without the Hassle

Worldpay doesn’t offer a comprehensive list of all its integrations and technology partners, but there are quite a few. It boasts hundreds of integrations with popular accounting platforms, e-commerce tools, shopping carts, CRMs, and more.

Worldpay plugin interface
With these plugins, you can connect your online store to Worldpay e-commerce with no code

Sure, you can find processors with more integrations, but Worldpay stands out with its pre-built plugins for popular e-commerce platforms. This makes it an accessible option for small businesses without substantial development resources. It also shines when it comes to integrations with global payment solutions, including location-specific options.

Worldpay’s tech stack may feel slightly outdated compared to more developer-centric platforms. However, the ability to tailor solutions without extensive custom development is a significant advantage.

4.4

Pricing

Competitive, Negotiable Fees, but Transparency Might Be an Issue

Worldpay uses an interchange-plus pricing model. You’ll pay a fairly reasonable fee of $15.95/month for your account. This fee includes access to a payment gateway for online payments, a tool that typically incurs an additional cost elsewhere. Unlike most competitors that charge higher online fees, Worldpay charges one flat rate of 2.55% + 10¢ (in-person and online) for all transactions. Its rates are pretty standard in the payment industry.

Worldpay doesn’t offer volume discounts, but it reviews merchant statements every three months, providing an opportunity to negotiate better rates.

You’ll get your first terminal for free. You can purchase or lease additional devices, but leasing will typically cost you more in the long run. Each device, on top of the complimentary one, costs $40/month to rent. Worldpay quoted a one-time purchase price of $620 per POS device but offered to lower the cost if I needed more devices. This cost falls somewhere in the mid-range, and it’s a pretty good deal for quality equipment if you have the budget.

Through Worldpay’s POS system, you can access zero-cost processing programs, like cash discount and surcharging, at no extra cost. Most processors charge extra for these programs, making Worldpay a great option to keep processing costs to a minimum. These capabilities are either built-in or available as apps. Your hardware will come pre-configured to automatically apply a cash discount or add a surcharge.

Worldpay won’t burden you with PCI compliance fees, but charges a standard chargeback fee of $25. You’re expected to process at least $30/month, or else you’ll have to cover this amount or the difference. If you wish to receive your funds the same day instead of the next business day, Worldpay will expedite the process for $9.95/month – a great deal if you need to improve cash flow.

The typical contract length is three years. Although some customer reviews indicate that Worldpay charges a cancellation fee, I am happy to report that this is no longer the case. After repeating my question in multiple forms, the sales representative assured me there’s no cancellation fee whatsoever for ending the agreement early.

However, I found customer complaints about potential rate increases even when the contract rates were supposed to be “locked in.” Unfortunately, these practices are common in the credit card processing industry, which is why I recommend carefully reviewing your contract terms and monitoring your monthly statements regardless of whether you decide to proceed with Worldpay or another processor.

Compliance & Security

Advanced Fraud Protection and Robust Security Features

Worldpay offers a strong suite of compliance and security tools designed to keep your data and payments secure. Thanks to a variety of advanced security features and built-in fraud protection tools, Worldpay is a reliable choice at any risk level.

PCI Compliance & More

"talk to an expert" button on Worldpay's website
This free program keeps you in the loop of PCI compliance requirements

Worldpay is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, adhering to the highest industry standards for securing cardholder data. It also holds certifications, such as ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management, ISO 22301 for business continuity management, and ISO 27031 for IT security techniques, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

Like with most processors, the responsibility of becoming PCI compliant falls on your business, but Worldpay makes the process simple. As part of its free dedicated PCI compliance support program, SaferPayments, Worldpay will pre-populate up to 90% of your Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), run quarterly PCI DSS external vulnerability scans, and send weekly compliance reminders via email.

As a global payment processor, Worldpay also adheres to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which governs the collection, processing, and storage of personal data of EU residents.

Additional Security Features

The most reliable processors typically offer an advanced security suite, and Worldpay is no exception. Its OmniShield program combines EMV acceptance, encryption, PCI compliance, and breach assistance. This combination ensures a more secure, compliant, and resilient payment environment, especially for small to mid-sized businesses, where compromised security could be catastrophic.

In addition to OmniShield Assure, Worldpay offers real-time fraud prevention tools. These include custom rules, such as flagging or blocking transactions based on specific criteria, helping you monitor and manage suspicious activities proactively.

Worldpay excels in chargeback management, making it a strong choice for businesses operating in high-risk or chargeback-prone industries. Its Disputes Portal is accessible through the dashboard and provides a central place to manage claims. You also get access to dedicated chargeback tools like Disputes Deflector, Disputes Defender, and a chargeback management API to help defend against chargebacks and recover revenue.

Customer Support

Highly Responsive 24/7 Phone Support

Worldpay offers multiple support channels, including phone, email, and an online help center.

support request sent to Worldpay via email
I had some follow-up questions because the first email lacked clarity

I couldn’t find an official email to reach out to, so I used the form on Worldpay’s website to send a brief message. The form only allows a few sentences, and like most processors, Worldpay replied with an email asking to schedule “a quick call.” I responded to this email with my list of questions, but I never received a response. Most processors use their website forms as a hook to get you on a call, and Worldpay is no exception.

The agent cleared my confusion within 15 minutes

Next, I tested its phone support and was connected to a sales agent within minutes. The agent answered my questions without using aggressive sales tactics. He also agreed to send a follow-up email outlining all the fees we discussed, giving me time to review them. While the initial email lacked clarity, he replied to my follow-up within 15 minutes. I can confidently say Worldpay’s support exceeded my expectations.

Worldpay’s knowledge base is a valuable resource, offering written guides and videos. I’ve seen more comprehensive online resources elsewhere. Thankfully, its tech support is available 24/7, so you likely won’t need to troubleshoot issues independently.
