Roberto Popolizio
Today, Website Planet is hosting an interview with Dai Tran, CEO of Grove HR, an Human resources management software trusted by over 1.000 firms worldwide. We talked about the company’s beginnings, how it evolved over the years, and what is the mission of Grove HR.

Please, Introduce Grove HR To Our Audience. What Features Does It Offer?

Grove HR is a cloud-based human resources management software that helps organizations automate and streamline their HR processes. The platform aims to empower teams by providing them with the tools and information they need to manage HR tasks efficiently and effectively. With Grove HR, companies can manage employee information, track time off requests, onboard new hires, and more, all in one central location. This can help save time, and improve the overall HR experience for both employees and HR teams.

Some of the key features of Grove HR include
  • Recruitment: able to create a career site in seconds, easy to integrate with job boards, centralize all incoming CVs and easily drag and drop the hiring pipeline.
  • Employee database management: A centralized database to store and manage employee information, including contact details, contracts, payslips, position growth, performance review data and any other custom data fields that managers want to know about their employees..
  • Time Checking: includes time off and time attendance. This information will link with payroll to calculate monthly salary.

  • Reporting and analytics: A suite of reports and analytics tools to help HR teams monitor key metrics and make data-driven decisions.

What’s Your Mission?

Our mission is to make work inspiring and fulfilling. The world is transforming, and so is the workplace. Gen-Z development teams, hybrid workplaces, remote employees, agile organizations, and ever-evolving expectations are challenging the way HR professionals work. Can they keep up? We believe so – but only with a new breed of HR Technology.

We don’t aim to bloat ourselves with full traditional features and heavy HR processes. We pick well-thought approaches to create pleasant employee experiences and interaction and collaboration-based management culture.

What Sparked The Idea, And How Has It Evolved So Far?

The concept of building Grove HR was from KMS Technology and its founder – Vu Lam. Passionately building a group of multiple successful technology companies with thousands of employees enjoying a healthy, exciting, and respected work environment, the team has the belief that work environment and culture are key factors in attracting and retaining the brightest talents.

It became clear that such a business philosophy required a different type of supporting technology. In 2018, Grove HR was born with a focus on how the new workforce wants to experience work rather than what HR processes need to be done.

With the growing size of many startups and SME companies and the increasing complexity of HR regulations and employee expectations, manual HR processes can become time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to manage. HR management software provides a centralized platform for storing and automating HR processes to offer more free time for HR staff.

Since its official launch in 2021, Grove HR has been attracting a lot of interest, and currently, more than 2,000 companies are actively using it for their businesses in 20 countries, mainly in the APAC region.

What Are The Pain Points Affecting Your Customers When They Come To You, And What Makes Them Choose You Over Your Competitors?

At Grove HR, we know that our customers face some common pain points related to HR tasks, which can be time-consuming and hinder productivity. Some of the most common pain points we collected over time include:
  • Struggle to manage employee data manually: Many of our customers struggle to manage their employee database manually using spreadsheets, in different folders, and out-of-date data. It is hard for them to look up the complete employee records.
  • Time checking and management: Our customers often spend a significant amount of time tracking employee attendance, vacation time, remaining annual leaves, etc.
  • Onboarding new employees: Our customers also experience difficulties in providing a good experience for new employees on the first day at work. They normally miss some items in the checklist or guidelines.
  • Performance reviews: Conducting regular performance reviews can be a time-consuming and challenging process. And providing reports after the reviews also consumes quite an amount of their efforts
  • Last but most important, they found most of the HR management solutions are complex, expensive or not future-proof for their growing and exciting businesses.
Our customers choose us over competitors for several reasons. They appreciate our intuitive and user-friendly UI, which makes it easy for them to use our modules without requiring much customer support. They also find our modern visuals and easy exploration appealing. Grove HR is also actively growing in developing and adopting new HR trends.

Moreover, the fact that our software is cloud-based is a big plus for our customers. They appreciate the ease and flexibility that comes with accessing our platform from the website or mobile app.

We offer a bundle of features at a reasonable cost, providing excellent value for money. Additionally, we provide our CoreHR modules free of charge to companies with less than 50 employees. This is the best deal in the market, and no competitor offers a similar deal. By offering this, we demonstrate our commitment to supporting smaller businesses and helping them succeed.

Overall, our combination of a user-friendly UI, modern visuals, cloud-based software, affordable pricing, and excellent offerings are why our customers choose us over our competitors.

Can You Share Any Recent Success Story To Show The Outcome From Using Grove HR?

As I shared, we have a long list of users in the system, and our customer success team is in engagement with them on a daily basis. Thus, we’ve collected quite an amount of customer success stories.

One success story we would pick is an insurance startup company that has been using Grove HR for two years. Initially, they used a free version and mainly explored the product on their own, which prevented them to explore the Grove HR’s full potential.

Due to their company’s workforce expansion, they shared with us their concerns and expectations because they was unsure if the software would meet upcoming HR demands. By some walk-through sessions with Grove HR’s customer success and development team, they decided to upgrade to a paid plan, because this allowed them to save roughly 76% of the expenses they would have incurred by hiring two HR employees to perform the same tasks. They were also able to utilize the software 2.5 times more than before. They are extremely happy that they can fulfill the expansion requirements without increasing any additional HR headcount and working hours.

Increased Automation: The use of AI and automation technologies is likely to continue to increase in HR, allowing HR teams to automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks and focus on more strategic initiatives.

Data-Driven HR: As the amount of data generated by HR processes continues to grow, HR teams will need to use advanced analytics and data visualization tools to gain insights and make data-driven decisions.

Remote Work: The trend towards remote work that emerged as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to continue, and HR teams will need to adapt to support and manage remote employees.

Emphasis on Employee Experience: The focus on providing a positive employee experience is likely to become even more important in the future as organizations seek to attract and retain top talent.

Compliance and Regulations: As HR regulations continue to evolve, HR teams will need to stay up to date on changing laws and regulations and ensure that their HR processes are compliant.
