Popular web-building platform Web.com has merged with Network Solutions to operate under the Network Solutions name, promising an expanded offering of services and features. Network Solutions, previously a Web.com subsidiary, was one of the top domain registrars in the world.

Web.com originally acquired the Network Solutions brand in a 2011 purchase worth over $405 million in cash and 19 million Web.com shares. The process was completed in October of the same year.

On June 11, Web.com announced it would consolidate with its subsidiary, merging the two brands under the Network Solutions name.

“This strategic consolidation brings together decades of innovation, reliability, and top-tier support, offering customers a comprehensive experience under the globally recognized Network Solutions brand,” said Christina Clohecy, CEO of Network Solutions. “It’s the same trusted service our customers know, now powered by the best of both brands, making it easier than ever for businesses to grow online.”

In the same announcement, the companies promised that the transition would be “seamless and convenient” for existing Web.com customers. Under the new umbrella, previous Web.com customers will have access to more tools, like AI-powered domain name search, digital marketing services, and an “enhanced site builder.”

This move comes as the parent company to both brands, Newfold Digital, streamlines its brand offering. Newfold Digital has made similar moves in the past to merge other subsidiaries like iPage, HostMonster, and more into the Bluehost brand.

“An iconic brand since 1979, Network Solutions has earned the trust of over a million customers worldwide through years of innovation, reliability, and exceptional support. Now, Network Solutions will add the strength of Web.com’s enhanced domain name search and web hosting services to better serve customers like you,” reads the official announcement.

The move comes as more and more website builders merge and acquire companies to expand their scope and offerings. Earlier this month, Wix announced its acquisition of Hour One, an AI media startup.
