Mark Kellogg, Director of Technical Partnerships at Kochava, kindly agreed to give us more information about the company, its mission, and the future of the industry.

Kochava is a real-time data solutions company offering omni-channel measurement and attribution solutions for marketers. We can measure any marketing channel and provide true holistic measurement through our platform, the Marketers OS (m/OS) platform which seamlessly integrates and manages customer identity, measurement, and data controls. Separate from the m/OS, Kochava hosts the largest independent mobile data marketplace, the Kochava Collective.

Please describe the story behind the company: What sparked the idea, and how has it evolved so far?

Kochava was founded by Charles Manning in 2011. At the time, he was leading a small group of mobile app developers creating boutique software for entrepreneurs and ad agencies. Mobile marketing was in its infancy, and there were few solutions to measure return on investment (ROI). After several clients asked for assistance in measuring their ad campaigns to prove their efficacy, Charles and his team began working on the platform that would become Kochava. Today, Kochava is a thriving bootstrapped company that has become one of the leading omni-channel measurement and attribution providers. Our company name comes from the Hebrew word for “star” with the premise of the company being its ability to uncover as many data points as there are stars in the sky. 

What is the mission of Kochava?

Kochava’s mission is to provide valuable insights to brands. In essence, the mission is to help marketers connect with their customers with respect to data privacy and consent. We exist for our customers and have innovated and developed tools based on their input.

What services do you offer?

Our platform, m/OS, includes measurement and attribution, user engagement, identity solutions, subscription management, fraud detection and prevention, and custom analyses by our strategic services division, Kochava FoundryTM. For new app developers, we offer a limited version of the m/OS through Free App Analytics. Separate from our main platform, we have the Kochava Collective, where marketers can use privacy-first data for audience discovery, data feeds, and audience enrichment. We are also developing our own blockchain solution to improve the buying and selling of ads.

What separates you from other similar websites/companies?

The reason we service some of the biggest brands in the world is because of our first-class customer service. Our Client Success Managers (CSM) are available 24/7 and work until a customer’s request is satisfied. Kochava exists for its customers and wants to see them succeed. Our CSMs take their jobs to heart by maximizing the m/OS tools and supporting our customers whether it’s troubleshooting or customizing a script to obtain specific data from their ad campaigns.

Who are your typical customers, and what do you think is the main challenge that your product solves for them?

Our typical customers are enterprise brands across all verticals: gaming, retail, hospitality, media, and more. Their main challenge is obtaining detailed visibility and insights into the activity generated by their ad campaigns, such as user acquisition, down-funnel engagement, retention, and fraud mitigation. They look to us to give them the most accurate data and overall representation of campaign performance. 

How do you envision the future of your industry?

Adtech is entering a privacy-first era where user privacy will be at the forefront of marketing. With Apple, Google, and others increasing user privacy capabilities, the industry is undergoing major changes in how it operates. Our outlook has always been from the beginning, that challenges bring about opportunity. We continue to develop our tools with data privacy in mind, have an intelligent consent management system in place for marketers, and a secure identity solution to help our customers thrive amidst the changing ecosystem.
