PRO ISP offers robust features and a platform that's perfect for beginners and experts alike. Unfortunately, they have many hidden fees, including a setup fee that makes them much more expensive than comparable providers.

pro-isp-minePRO ISP is a Norway-based company that’s been offering website hosting services since 2002. Their plans offer solid features that include a website builder and €75  in Google ad credits. However, their services are extremely cost prohibitive compared to other companies.

Features and Ease of Use

PRO ISP offers a nice set of basic and advanced features on all of their hosting plans. Plans features are perfect for beginners as well as experienced webmasters. Their basic features include:

  • Website builder and Softaculous auto-installer
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Unlimited subdomains
  • Unlimited email accounts
  • 99.9% uptime guarantee

Their services offer solid protection including Cloudflare and both antispam and antivirus protection. Here’s a quick rundown of their advanced features:

  • DNS customization
  • Supports PHP 4.4-7.2
  • €75 in Google Ad coupons
  • Antispam and antivirus
  • Cloudflare protection

The Google Ad credits is a nice touch and will be especially helpful for those running E-commerce websites. One thing I would have liked to see is support for advanced developer options on all plans. They support PHP through 7.2, but there’s more to developing than PHP. They offer Node.Js and Ruby on Rails on Pro Medium and Pro Premium, but it should be on Pro Start as well.

If you’re a beginner, PRO ISP is an excellent choice as they offer a website builder on all plans. They also offer the Softaculous auto-installer. It will allow you to install WordPress, Drupal, PrestaShop, Joomla, and many other common apps from a list of over 400.

Pricing and Support

PRO ISP offers three web hosting plans, all offering the same basic features as outlined earlier. There are multiple differences between each plan, and those differences are summarized below:

Pro StartPro MediumPro Premium
Antivirus and Spam Filter?NoNoYes
FTP Accounts115Unlimited
LiteSpeed Web Server?NoYesYes
SSH Access?NoYesYes
Node.Js Support?NoYesYes
Ruby on Rails Support?NoYesYes
Pro ServerNoNoYes

To say that the Pro Start plan is basic is an understatement. You get barebone features and is only suitable for very basic sites. The other plans are a bit better, but none are particularly amazing.

Storage is a bit light relative to the number of domains you can host, and the number of databases is lacking. If you choose to install multiple WordPress domains, you’re going to use up your quota fast. I also don’t like that antivirus and antispam are only offered for the Pro Premium plan. That should be available for all plans.

Be aware that there are multiple hidden fees with these plans. You don’t get a free domain, so that’s an additional charge. If you choose to host more than one domain on the Pro Medium or Pro Premium plan, you’re going to pay an extra small fee every month for each domain you host.

Also, you will have to pay an annual fee for your SSL certificate on each site. Finally, every plan comes with a setup fee. That’s not a joke. I can’t remember the last time I saw a setup fee for a shared web hosting plan.

To their credit, PRO ISP does offer strong customer support. They provide 24/7 customer support via telephone and email. Also, they have a robust knowledge base and multiple support forums that are very active.

While they don’t offer live chat support, they do provide remote support on their products via TeamViewer, so if you get stuck, you can call in and have a technician take over and resolve your problem. Live chat support would be a nice feature to add, but otherwise, their support is solid.

Bottom line on PRO ISP

This is one provider I’m somewhat torn about. PRO ISP has a nice set of features, and normally I’d rank them higher than I am. The biggest caveat against using this provider is their fees. They have a lot of add-on fees that make them cost prohibitive compared to other providers. I like their service, but until they adopt a better pricing structure, they are difficult to recommend.

  • Website builder and Softaculous auto-installer
  • €75 in Google Ad coupons
  • Antispam and antivirus
  • Cloudflare protection

  • Multiple add-on fees including a setup fee
  • No live chat support
