Wix Expands PayPal Partnership for Streamlined Payments

Website building platform Wix has expanded its partnership with PayPal Holdings Inc., bringing more online payment options for US-based merchants. The new options are built into the company’s proprietary payment solution, Wix Payments.

“By bringing PayPal under the Wix Payments umbrella, we gain significantly more control over the user experience and how PayPal’s products are delivered to our merchants,” Amit Sagiv and Volodymyr Tsukur, Co-Heads of Wix Payments, said in a press release.

Wix Payments is Wix’s native payment solution that enables merchants to accept payments online, including credit and debit cards and digital wallets. With the expanded partnership, PayPal will also act as a Payment Service Provider (PSP), delivering additional card processing capabilities within Wix Payments.

With this integration, Wix merchants can connect their PayPal Business account and manage all payment activity from a single Wix Payments dashboard. Funds from PayPal wallet transactions are deposited directly into merchants’ accounts, simplifying reconciliation and improving cash flow visibility. This setup unifies reports, payouts, and chargebacks, streamlining payment management.

On the customer side, the collaboration offers greater flexibility, including access to convenient payment solutions like PayPal Pay Later (a buy-now-pay-later solution) and Venmo (a social-first payment service).

Wix continues to strengthen its position in the e-commerce landscape by introducing new features and entering strategic partnerships that enhance merchant capabilities. The AI Site-Chat, for example, is a customizable on-site chat interface that enables customers to engage with Wix shops in natural language, providing information about products and services, as well as personalized shopping recommendations.

Wix further enriched its ecommerce offering through a new partnership with Alibaba, giving users access to a global network of trusted wholesalers. The collaboration also allows Alibaba merchants to create professional, customizable storefronts on Wix without coding.

These new PayPal solutions are currently limited to US-based Wix merchants, with plans to expand to additional regions in the future.
