How SpeedVitals Helps 1000+ Websites Improve Their Core Web Vitals: Q/A with CEO Kashish Kumawat

Bethenny Carl
Website Planet had the chance to interview Kashish Kumawat, CEO of SpeedVitals, a Website Testing Tool that provides performance metrics and tips to pass Core Web Vitals. We learned how SpeedVitals helps over a thousand companies improve their search rankings, carbon footprint and customer retention by running Performance Tests, speed Monitoring, and Real-user Monitoring from one centralized platform.

What problems are you solving with your products and services?

As the internet speed continues to get faster around the world, users expect every single website to load in the blink of an eye. However, a regular user might not be aware that a website’s performance could also be limited by its hosting infrastructure and front-end code rather than the user’s internet speed.
  • Amazon sees a 1% decrease in revenue for every 100 ms increase in load time.
  • Google finds a 500ms increase in page load results in 25% fewer searches.
While these numbers may not seem very significant for a regular website, for a company as big as Amazon or Google, this could amount to millions of dollars of loss every single day.

The above statements would give you a slight idea of what SpeedVitals does. Our platform makes it easy to test, monitor, and optimize website performance. We have an extensive list of features such as Batch Testing, No-Code Experiments, and Worldwide TTFB Tests that take Web Performance testing and optimization to the next level.

One shouldn’t be optimizing their website performance just to make the search engine algorithms happy, but also to ensure that the users don’t get frustrated as they navigate through your website. Users love websites that are responsive and load instantly.

Lastly, fast and efficient websites generate the least amount of carbon footprint and that can make a difference when it comes to climate change.

How does your mission differ from the other companies in your niche?

There are dozens of great tools for Web Performance Testing and I have used nearly all of them sometime in the past. In fact, I still use some of them for the features that are not yet available on our platform.

Our competitors have amazing products that provide extremely detailed insights and a lot of helpful suggestions to improve performance. However, most of the data about websites’ performance is usually overwhelming even for developers, unless they have some experience using Performance Testing tools.

We are trying to bridge this gap by providing actionable tips that are easy to understand, quick to implement, and can make a massive improvement to a website’s performance.

We regularly listen to user feedback and feature requests and prioritize them. This helps us maintain a lead over the competitors in terms of the feature set. We also keep us updated with the technical innovations happening in the Web Performance space and include them in our tools at the earliest.

What industries or business sizes benefit the most from your solutions?

Among our tools & features, we have something for every business size. Anyone who owns a website can use SpeedVitals irrespective of the website’s technology, infrastructure, or business size. Our current set of customers includes a mix of small-scale sites such as blogs, medium-level e-commerce sites, marketing agencies, and some big players among the Fortune 500 companies.

However, enterprise-level companies and e-commerce sites can benefit the most from our solutions because at that scale, performance becomes even more critical and we have solutions such as Batch Testing and Monitoring as well as APIs that can be integrated with their development cycle.

And what makes them eventually choose you over your competitors?

One of the biggest reasons why users choose our product is the simplicity of the data and reports we present. We have a clean and organized user interface and we have divided our performance report in several categories. In our report, we always prioritize sections that are most important to the users. Thus, SpeedVitals makes it easy for anyone to understand their website performance report even if they haven’t previously worked on Speed Optimization.

The next reason is our extensive list of features and user-configurable options that are unmatched in the industry. We cater to the needs of both advanced users as well beginners.

Since we also offer a Free plan, it gets easy for users to try our product without any trial plans or submitting their credit card information. In fact, people can also test their website without even signing up or providing any personal details. Thus, from a privacy standpoint, users are less hesitant to try our product compared to our competitors.

And once they have tried our product and have seen what SpeedVitals can do, they become our regular users.

What other tools and best practices do you suggest using in combination with your products?

Alongside our product, using an analytics solution such as Plausible or Microsoft Clarity can help users co-relate their website performance with user-experience metrics.

While Performance is important, one also needs to make sure their website is free of bugs. Sentry is a great tool to monitor your website issues live. Lastly, BrowserStack is another great tool that will ensure that your website works as expected across different browsers and operating systems.

Can you share any success stories where your product made a significant difference for a business dealing with those challenges?

One of our customers is a major Hosting Provider and they have had a lot of success using our tool for increasing their customer conversion rate. One of their USPs is an enterprise CDN that makes their user’s site fast globally.

Most Speed Testing Tools don’t have batch testing capabilities across multiple locations and the ones that do, have limited locations. One of our features called Batch Test allows testing performance across 35 Locations with a single click. Moreover, we offer another feature called the TTFB Test that measures response times across 40+ Locations globally.

These features tremendously helped our customers and they started using our tools to do a before vs after comparison while the customers switch hosting providers and this helps them build a lot of trust and confidence.

What opportunities and challenges do you see in the future of your industry?

Some of the opportunities that we see in our industry include:
  • Increased Demand: As businesses increasingly move online, the demand for website performance testing tools is also expected to rise. Companies want to ensure that their websites can handle high traffic and provide a smooth user experience.
  • AI and Machine Learning: The integration of AI and machine learning can help in predicting potential bottlenecks and issues before they occur. This can help in proactively optimizing website performance.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: As technology advances, there is an opportunity to develop tools that can provide real-time performance monitoring and instant feedback.
  • Integration with Other Tools: There is an opportunity to integrate with other tools in the development pipeline, such as CI/CD tools, to provide a more holistic view of the performance.
Here are some challenges in the future of our industry:
  • Evolving web technologies like WebAssembly may require adjustments to how performance is measured and the tools will need to adapt.
  • Testing the impact of third-party scripts/widgets on page performance. This requires simulating real user conditions.
  • Handling the growing diversity of devices, browsers, and networks to test. Covering them all would be difficult.
  • Monitoring performance of complex single-page apps and sites heavy on JavaScript. This requires advanced instrumentation.
