In an interview with
Website Planet, Hiren Shah, the visionary behind ConnectReseller (powered by OwnRegistrar), sheds light on the company’s mission to empower channel partners with fully white-labeled domain registration and WHOIS solutions.
Recognizing the need for branding independence, ConnectReseller offers a platform where resellers can operate under their own name while leveraging the robust infrastructure of an ICANN-accredited registrar. From customizable control panels to invisible backend systems, their goal is to stay in the background while enabling partners to grow confidently.
Shah also addresses pricing transparency, brand trust, and robust security—underscoring a commitment to both flexibility and compliance in a competitive domain landscape.
What motivated you to focus on offering white‑label domain registration and private-labeled WHOIS solutions to channel partners?
At
ConnectReseller, a platform powered by
OwnRegistrar, our mission has always been to
empower channel partners—be it resellers, hosting providers, or IT service companies—by giving them the tools to build their
own domain business without being overshadowed by the parent registrar.
We recognized early that many businesses want to
offer domain services under their own brand, not as a sub-agent of another company. That’s why we focused on a
white-label solution—from the control panel to WHOIS output—allowing partners to retain full brand control while leveraging our ICANN accreditation and infrastructure. This strategic positioning gives our partners the
freedom, flexibility, and credibility they need to grow, while we stay firmly in the background as their tech enabler.
How do you ensure full branding control—from the control panel to WHOIS—to prevent end users from seeing the Unregistrar brand?
We provide a
fully branded control panel where resellers can apply their logo, colors, and custom domain/subdomain for portal access. For WHOIS, we offer
white-labeled WHOIS services, meaning the registry data shows a generic or custom WHOIS server that does not reveal the ConnectReseller brand. Our backend infrastructure is designed to be invisible to the end user, allowing our partners to operate with complete
branding independence.
Your pricing shows premium renewal and restoration fees (e.g., $35/yr and $250 restoration); how do you communicate value to clients for these rates?
As a
white-label platform, ConnectReseller allows partners to set their
own pricing strategy. Since we operate behind the scenes via
OwnRegistrar, the actual pricing details are not publicly listed on OwnRegistrar website, which is our white label registrar — this helps resellers maintain
full control over their margins and customer communication.
With mixed online reviews—some praising your support in EPP code issues, others strongly alleging fraudulent practices—how do you address and manage your brand’s trust and reputation?
We take all feedback seriously and have a
dedicated grievance redressal team to investigate and resolve concerns swiftly. Every support case is tracked, reviewed, and escalated when necessary. While some negative reviews stem from
misunderstandings or disputes between resellers and end customers, we are proactive in providing
evidence-based responses and education to clarify policies. Trust is earned over time, and we’re committed to building it through
transparency, fairness, and continuous improvement.
What security protocols and anti-abuse measures do you have in place to prevent misuse of your platform by malicious actors?
ConnectReseller enforces
multi-layered security, including:
- Two-factor authentication (2FA)
- IP and role-based access controls
- Automated fraud detection and abuse reporting systems
- Regular audits and compliance with ICANN and registry policies
- 24/7 monitoring for phishing, spam, and malware-related domain abuse
We work closely with CERTs, registries, and law enforcement when abuse is detected and follow
strict verification protocols during onboarding to maintain platform integrity.
As an ICANN‑accredited registrar operating globally, how do you balance compliance obligations with service flexibility for resellers and corporate clients?
We strike this balance through
modular policy enforcement—offering resellers customizable options while ensuring they operate within the
framework of ICANN, GDPR, and local laws. Our legal and compliance teams stay updated with evolving regulations to ensure
contractual clarity, data protection, and lawful operations, while product teams ensure the platform remains flexible enough to cater to
region-specific needs, enterprise integrations, and unique business models.
