Based in the Netherlands, mijn.host is a web hosting provider that has been in the market for five years. It specializes in shared hosting, WordPress hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, domain registration, and several other hosting-related services. It operates out of data centers located in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the U.K.
The mijn.host website has an attractive design and is quite informative. However, it’s only available in Dutch, and all prices are in euros.
Features and Ease of Use
mijn.host delivers its shared hosting services in four different packages – starter, basic, advance, and ultimate. These packages vary in storage, RAM, CPU, mailboxes, and MySQL databases. All four packages come with unlimited monthly bandwidth in addition to the following features:
- DirectAdmin control panel
- Softaculous auto-installer
- Free SSL certificates
- SSD storage
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Automatic hourly backups
- SSH access
DirectAdmin is the control panel that comes with all of mijn.host’s shared hosting plans. I usually prefer cPanel, but DirectAdmin also has a user-friendly interface and doesn’t require technical skills to get around. Its only downside is that it’s a little outdated compared to cPanel.
On a brighter note, you do get the well-known Softaculous app installer in your control panel. Like cPanel, Softaculous is known for its ease of use. You can install applications or scripts in a few clicks. It has numerous supported applications, including WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, and hundreds more.
All shared hosting accounts are on servers that run on CloudLinux OS. This operating system securely isolates each account from other accounts on the same server to protect them against external threats. It also ensures the fair allocation of the server resources.
mijn.host is not the most user-friendly host out there, so if you’re a beginner, have a look at our top web hosting comparison.
Pricing and Support
mijn.host’s overall prices are considered average compared to the market. They’re not the cheapest, but they’re also not the most expensive.
You can choose to be billed monthly, quarterly, or annually and all plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. According to the SLA, if the actual uptime falls below 100%, you will be compensated with up to a month of free hosting.
mijn.host has a decent knowledgebase of numerous articles and tutorials covering several major topics. If you don’t find what you need, you can always contact support. Unfortunately, the only communication channel available is support tickets, and it’s only available during working hours. Luckily, I sent my questions within that timeframe and received an almost instant reply via email answering all my questions.
