MAXNET has been operating since 2002. It provides connection and data transmission services. Its hosting arm – Prohost.Maxnet – offers a range of services including domain registration, web hosting, VPS/VDS, dedicated servers, and collocation.
Its servers are located in its data center in Kharkiv, Ukraine. You can view the website in Englsh, Russian, and Ukrainian.
Features and Ease of Use
MAXNET offers SATA disk storage and SSD storage. Its shared hosting plans are categorized based on the type of storage it offers. There are six shared hosting plans for SATA and four for SSD.
These are some of the web hosting features:
- 99.749% uptime
- Automatic backups
- Free domain on most plans
- Free Comodo PositiveSSL on some plans
- Unlimited websites allowed on some plans
- Unlimited traffic
Customers looking to host only a text-based blog should take the starter SATA plan that provides 500MB. Other simple websites and some e-commerce stores will be comfortable on any of the other shared hosting plans.
MAXNET provides shared hosting customers with PHP support. You can program your website with the language as well as set up PHP-based applications like WordPress. Beware that before you set up WordPress, you’ll need to know how to create databases and manage MySQL databases.
This company doesn’t provide a software installer, so customers are stuck with trying to install web applications the hard way which is configuring databases and connecting the uploaded file to your database. Also, there’s no website builder on offer for those who don’t want to mess with a CMS.
MAXNET provides ISPManager as the control panel. Not cPAnel. Although cPanel is seen as the standard for shared hosting, ISPManager is a fantastic alternative. It’s intuitive as the settings and tools for hosting management are well outlined on the left with a simple user interface. Also, it doesn’t take much RAM.
Pricing and Support
MAXNET offers reasonable shared hosting prices. The fees fit what competition offers for similar features. Also, you get a free domain on some plans depending on the subscription period you pay for.
Subscription periods are one month, three months, six months, and one year. The free domain is provided on six months or one-year duration. It provides a free SSL as well, so that takes a chunk out of your proposed expenses.
It doesn’t have a free trial. Also, there’s no assurance of a refund or money back guarantee duration. To get a refund from this company, your complaints must be “weighty”. Given that the company has to weigh your complaints, what might be a big deal to you might mean nothing to it.
Its VPS plans are reasonably priced. They run on powerful Intel XEON processors and you can install both Linux and Windows based operating systems. For dedicated servers, it provides a custom quote based on your requirements.
Depending on the department you need for support, you can get 24/7 or nine hours to get in touch immediately. The customer care center works 24/7 but if you issue will need the data center managers to come in, then that works from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
You can reach the support agents through phone, email, and tickets. I opened a ticket and received a fast response to all my questions.
If you’re DIY oriented, you’ll still have to contact the support because this company doesn’t have a knowledge base
