Danish host Dothost is in transition at the time of writing, or at least its website is in transition. In fact, it advises "Please do not buy anything as our system is being rebuilt." So, I suggest you revisit it regularly if you're interested in this host.

Overview

Danish host Dothost has provided a range of I.T. solutions to its diverse clients since 2003. It’s good to know that it has been in business this long because, otherwise, its part-baked Danish-language website might lead you to believe that it’s still setting up shop.

Features and Ease of Use

As you read what follows, be aware that this vendor’s website was being rebuilt at the time of writing this review, so any information should be taken as indicative only.

Dothost’s hosting services include three shared hosting packages (including a package that’s free for the first year) and four VPS packages. All the shared hosting packages provide you with:

  • 5 GB website/database space
  • 30 GB traffic
  • 15 GB email space
  • PHP + MySQL
  • Control panel
  • Online mail management
  • IMAP access, webmail
  • Daily backups

Hosting packages come with FTP access for the transfer of large files, and the online backup service should ensure that those files are never lost.

Dothost’s hosting packages are complemented by a webshop service (for e-commerce) and SEO services (to improve your website’s search engine ranking).

Pricing and Support

Dothost

Dothost’s website advertises a free (for the first year) package and two pricey packages. You can purchase plans on an annual, biennial, or triennial basis, but you can only pay in Danish krone via QuickPay.

Customer support options include email (via a contact form) and telephone (for registered clients), but my email submission didn’t work. You can also get remote support, and there is a partially populated self-support section.

Bottom line on Dothost

As it was established in 2003, Danish host Dothost clearly has a long pedigree. However, you wouldn’t think so from its half-baked website that contains a lot of placeholder text and part-populated sections. Indeed, the home page banner advises, “Please do not buy anything as our system is being rebuilt.” On this basis, I suggest you hold fire until it says something more promising.

Pros

  • Free hosting (for the first year)
  • 16 years of industry experience
  • A wide range of I.T. solutions
  • SEO services

Cons

  • Website being reconstructed
  • Advised not to purchase plans

See if Dothost’s website is operational.
