Although iPage’s introductory rates are attractive, the high renewal costs could catch you off guard. It’s a common tactic from many web hosts to lure you in with a low base price, only to upsell you for basic features later on. It doesn’t help that iPage keeps critical features such as daily backups and robust security systems locked behind paywalls.
There are dozens of hosts that offer similar services to iPage, but finding the best alternative isn’t so easy – mostly because those web hosts end up having the same problems. That’s why I’ve personally tested many of the popular alternatives to iPage to deliver you the ones that genuinely provide great value for money. I’ve managed to cut it down to the six best alternative web hosts that you should consider.
Short on Time? These Are the Best Alternatives to iPage
Hostinger – Super-cheap hosting with fantastic performance.
InterServer – Shared hosting with unlimited resources and commitment-free monthly billing
A2 Hosting – Strong security features for all plans and prorated refund policy.
What We Look For in the Best Alternatives to iPage
Performance is always the first consideration I have when recommending web hosts. I made sure the hosting services on my list could deliver fast loading speeds and reliable uptime.
The hosts also had to satisfy these requirements:
Better value. iPage appears to be very cheap at first – but renewal prices are high and there are many critical features, like malware scans and site restorations, that are locked behind paywalls. I looked for hosts that provided such features for free, along with better pricing overall.
Free backups. Backups are absolutely crucial. Data loss often occurs due to factors completely outside of your control, and without any backups, you’ll have no way of recovering your site. iPage’s plans don’t include free backups, whereas many of the hosts I’ve picked do.
Robust, free security features. Without proper security measures, your website will be vulnerable to malware, DDoS attacks, hacking, and more. iPage charges extra for security, while the hosts I recommend below have plenty of free security features.
Uptime guarantee. Outside of a vague statement on its homepage that says iPage has a 99.9% uptime guarantee, there really isn’t anything else to suggest that it’s a “guarantee,” and iPage doesn’t offer any compensation in the event of downtime. That’s why I took a close look at hosts that do offer compensation as well as stronger uptime guarantees.
One of iPage’s main draws is the fact that it provides super-cheap shared hosting – at least until it’s time to renew. However, Hostinger offers even cheaper prices than iPage for shared hosting. While Hostinger’s plans also renew at a higher price, the renewal rates are still inexpensive compared to iPage.
With such low prices, it’s easy to think there must be a catch. But Hostinger provides all the features you need to get started, including a free SSL certificate and strong security features. It uses the BitNinja security system, which includes a web application firewall, DDoS and brute force attack protection, and malware scanning. All of these security features are included for free with your plan.
Hostinger also offers fantastic performance – it was one of the fastest shared hosting providers I’ve ever tested. Uptime tracked over a few months was near perfect, too! While it doesn’t offer unlimited resources like iPage and support can be a bit slow to respond, Hostinger provides much better value for your money.

Free on-demand backups. Automatic daily backups are only available on the Business plan (which is still very cheap!), but you’re able to make one on-demand backup of your site per day, regardless of your plan.
Managed WordPress hosting. Hostinger also offers managed WordPress hosting, which includes optimizations, automatic updates, and support. It’s also significantly cheaper than iPage’s similar plan.
CyberPanel hosting. Hostinger offers CyberPanel VPS hosting, with plans starting at $3.99. Cyberpanel is an easy-to-use open source control panel that lets you manage multiple sites through your dashboard. With built-in LSCache, QUIC, and cache plugins, this plan is ideal for WordPress hosting.
30-day money-back guarantee. If you find that Hostinger isn’t the right host for you, you can cancel within the first 30 days to receive a full refund.
If you’d rather not commit to a web host just to get a good deal, InterServer could be the solution for you. Unlike iPage, you can host your site on InterServer’s cheap monthly plan – there’s no need for you to commit to a long contract, nor will you have to pay upfront for a year or more of hosting.
While performance is excellent in the US and serviceable in Western Europe, it’s slow elsewhere. However, like iPage, InterServer’s standard hosting plan offers unlimited resources, which means you won’t have to worry about hitting any limits.
InterServer also provides free automatic weekly backups, and will retain the last 30 versions. This allows you to restore your site to a previous version, even from several months ago.
InterShield is InterServer’s free security, which proactively blocks web attacks, scans for viruses, and features an in-house malware database.
Free CDN. A free Cloudflare CDN is included with InterServer’s standard web hosting package, along with caching and speed optimizations.
Free hack and malware removal. In the event that your site is hacked, InterServer will clean up your account, restore it to its original state, and take measures to prevent your site being compromised again.
Free website migration. If you can provide a full cPanel backup of your site, InterServer is happy to handle the migration process for you, free of charge.
Ecommerce hosting. InterServer makes it easy to get your store online with its ecommerce plan. You’ll get a one-click installation for Prestashop, WooCommerce, Magento, and more, plus free SSL certificate and support for several payment methods.
A2 Hosting’s shared hosting plans start at very affordable prices and offer excellent performance and uptime. However, A2 Hosting’s amazing refund policy and fantastic security features truly set it apart from iPage.
Like most hosts, A2 Hosting offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but if you choose to cancel your service after this time, you also remain eligible for a prorated refund for any unused time in your contract. No other host I tested offered this, and you’ll have some nice flexibility if you decide to change hosts later.
A2 Hosting also offers a strong set of free security features, including a dual firewall, DDoS and brute force attack protection, server hardening, virus scanning, free HackScan malware protection, and daily automatic kernel updates. While its support can be hit-or-miss, A2 Hosting offers a more powerful security system than iPage.
Free Cloudflare CDN. A2 Hosting includes a Cloudflare CDN with every shared hosting plan. Not only does Cloudflare help to speed up your site, but it also adds another layer of security against DDoS attacks.
Auto-configured WordPress. WordPress and other popular Content Management Systems (CMSs) come pre-configured and optimized for maximum performance.
On-demand backups. You can perform backups manually, either through cPanel or SSH. Automatic backups are sadly not included in the cheapest shared hosting plan, but they are available in every higher-tier plan.
Free website migration. In most cases, A2 Hosting will be able to migrate your website for free.
While FastComet is priced similarly to iPage, plans include far more impressive features. For example, unlike iPage, it provides a free FastGuard security solution, which includes a web application firewall, DDoS and brute force attack protection, account isolation, malware scanning, and server monitoring.
FastComet also offers free automatic daily and weekly backups, while iPage charges a premium for this service. It’s great value to have these backups included for free, and it ensures your site will be protected against any unforeseen data loss.
Another standout feature is FastComet’s fantastic 24/7 support. It’s both responsive and helpful, on par with iPage’s support service. While FastComet’s performance is a little slower than iPage, you get much more for your money with FastComet.
Free Content Delivery Network (CDN). A free Cloudflare CDN is included with all of FastComet’s plans.
Free drag-and-drop site builder. Like iPage, FastComet offers a free site builder, which comes with over 350 templates and more than 40 widgets. However, it isn’t limited to a certain number of pages like iPage’s free site builder, so you can make as many as you like without additional charge.
Free website migration. FastComet will migrate your site to its servers free of charge.
45-day money-back guarantee. FastComet’s money-back guarantee is considerably longer than the industry standard, giving you more time to request a refund if you find it’s not the right host for you.
While SiteGround is on the more expensive side, it stands out because of its focus on managed WordPress hosting.
All plans come with a managed WordPress service, which includes the initial installation of WordPress, automatic updates of the core WordPress software and plugins, WordPress-specific support, and the WordPress Starter site-building wizard. The wizard is particularly helpful, allowing you to easily get started with a nice theme and basic preinstalled plugins. There’s also the proprietary Site Tools control panel, which is simple to use and looks much more modern than iPage’s dated control panel.
Despite SiteGround’s free CDN integration, other hosts offer faster loading speeds. And its support service, while helpful, can be slow to respond. However, SiteGround is still a good choice if you’re looking to build a WordPress site.
A free domain name is included with some hosting plans from SiteGround
Automatic daily backups. Free automatic daily backups are included with every shared hosting plan, and SiteGround will retain your last 30 backups. However, you can only perform on-demand backups in the GrowBig and GoGeek plans.
Custom ModSecurity firewall. To keep your site safe, SiteGround uses a customized version of the ModSecurity firewall, along with an AI anti-bot system, server monitoring, DDoS and brute force attack protection, and account isolation.
WordPress site migration. Through the use of a WordPress plugin, you can transfer WordPress sites to SiteGround’s services for free. However, the migration of non-WordPress sites costs extra.
30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re unsure about SiteGround, you can try shared hosting plans risk-free for 30 days. Cloud hosting plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
GreenGeeks is an eco-friendly hosting solution, committed to matching 300% of the energy it consumes with renewable energy credits. This makes it a great environmental choice, but it’s also a good host in general, featuring many benefits over iPage.
GreenGeeks is priced similarly to iPage, but GreenGeeks has more features included in its plans. Daily automatic backups are included for free with all shared hosting plans. There’s also a free CDN with every shared hosting plan, something that iPage lacks.
The GreenGeeks servers sometimes have trouble maintaining consistently good performance, but the support service is fantastic, making them an especially good choice for beginners. Whereas many other hosts’ support teams simply point you in the right direction, GreenGeeks’ support agents have often gone ahead and solved my issues for me.
A free domain name is included with some hosting plans from GreenGeeks
Malware cleanup. If your site gets hacked, GreenGeeks will remediate it for a fee. Other security features include an advanced web application firewall and account isolation.
Free site builder. GreenGeeks provides free drag-and-drop site builders with every plan, with a choice of SitePad or Weebly. Both come without page limits, unlike the free version of iPage’s web builder.
Free website migration. If you’re looking to transfer an existing site, GreenGeeks will handle the migration process for you without charge.
Developer-friendly features for all plans. GreenGeeks supports multiple versions of PHP (including the latest version), and you’ll get SSH and SFTP access. There’s also Git integration and WP-CLi.
The right iPage alternative for you depends on what your priorities are. If you’re looking for the cheapest and fastest option, Hostinger is the best host for you. Its basic plans are still loaded with great features, including a free SSL certificate and strong security measures.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to worry about caps on storage space or data transfer, InterServer’s basic plan offers unlimited resources. Unlike iPage, you can get this with a simple and flexible monthly plan – you won’t need to purchase a year of hosting in one go. If security is your main concern, A2 Hosting offers the best free security features. Its prorated refund policy also means that you can cancel your plan at any time and receive a refund for the unused portion of time.
Take a look at this comparison table for a quick recap of my top picks.
Cheap shared hosting plans with amazing page loading speeds
While free hosting exists, I wouldn’t recommend it. Many free hosts turn out to be scams. Even if you did find a legitimate free host, there’s always a huge downside, such as forced advertisements or poor reliability. Instead, you should take advantage of budget hosting. How do I cancel iPage?
Canceling iPage is a simple process. You can either set your hosting plan to not renew within the Account Renewal section of your Domain Dashboard, or cancel immediately by getting in touch with support.
Which is the cheapest and most reliable iPage alternative?
Hostinger boasts incredibly low prices and fantastic reliability. My UptimeRobot tests showed that it had a near-perfect uptime over two months, which was really impressive. Similarly, global average page loading speeds were an incredible 0.499 seconds.
