If you are in a hurry, and just want the bottom line: for the same price as ICDSoft you can get much better servers with 24/7 support with Hostinger, so why even bother?!
Though ICDSoft came into existence in 1993, they only started offering shared hosting services in 1999. They now have customers in over 140 countries around the world and host over 100,000 websites. With modern data centers, high-quality hardware, and a dedicated customer support team, ICDSoft promises a reliable and secure hosting environment for all website owners.
Features and Ease of Use
ICDSoft offers a number of value-added features. For starters, they’ve developed their own in-house control panel — vaguely reminiscent of the industry-leading cPanel — which enables you to easily manage every aspect of your hosting account. This control panel also supports Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), which can be enabled or disabled at your discretion.
All servers come with two 6-Core Intel Xeon processors, 32GB RAM, and RAID 6 disk arrays built entirely of SSDs — which essentially means that you’ll have extremely fast server loading speeds even on shared hosting plans. Hot-swap disks, redundant power supply units, and cooling fans allow the replacement and repair of parts while keeping the servers online, which increases reliability.
What I like best about them is the free website builder included with every shared hosting account. This enables those without any previous website building experience to create robust, professional-looking websites quickly and easily. They also have a handy cPanel© Importer tool, which allows you to easily migrate an existing website from your previous hosting provider.
The Economy package is their entry-level shared hosting plan, which is ideal for bloggers, small businesses, or portfolio websites. The plan includes:
- 1GB SSD storage
- 20GB monthly bandwidth
- 15 subdomains
- 10 MySQL databases
- 30 mailing lists
This shared hosting plan also comes with daily backups (with data kept for seven days) and a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate, though the storage space allocated with this plan means you likely won’t be able to run anything more than a small online store. WordPress and OpenCart installers enable you to quickly set this up.
Whereas the Economy package seems a bit restrictive, the only other shared hosting plan available seems to swing to the other extreme. This would be the Business shared hosting plan, which comes with:
- 100GB SSD storage
- 1TB monthly bandwidth
- 150 subdomains
- 100 MySQL databases
- 300 mailing lists
If you outgrow this plan, you can opt for either of their managed VPS hosting plans. You may also where you’d like your shared server to be located — the U.S., Europe, or Hong Kong — but do note that the resource allocations and prices may differ slightly.
ICDSoft also offers a reseller hosting scheme.
Pricing and Support
ICDSoft offers two shared hosting packages and two VPS hosting packages. Frankly, I thought the resource allocations offered in each of the four plans had too much variance. The Economy plan — which, by the way, is a fair bit pricier than the market average — offers a limited 1GB of space, while the only other shared hosting plan offers 100GB of space. There wasn’t an option in between, which means either you’ve got just enough space for a basic website, or you’ve got what may be far too much space for a larger website.
They also don’t include a free domain registration with their packages, though you do get a discounted rate. Also, they offer a spectacular 100-day money back guarantee and renewal discounts, so perhaps these more than make up for the higher prices at the beginning.
The customer support at ICDSoft is worth mentioning here. I was immediately greeted by a live chat representative when I visited the website. The website is pretty easy to navigate, so I didn’t need to ask them any questions. In addition to the live chat, they have a state-of-the art 24/7 support ticket system. They promise to answer every one of your support tickets within 15 minutes and email messages within an hour. Over the years, their support team has answered over half a million clients with an average response time of seven minutes, which was impressive. There’s also extensive help documentation on their website.
