Even though Fasthosts may seem cheaper than SiteGround, SiteGround for WordPress hosting is a better bargain.
To make a fair comparison between SiteGround and Fasthosts, I tested both hosts in terms of features, pricing, support, security, and performance. Fasthosts lost in all five rounds.

1. Plans and Pricing
SiteGround Offers Better Value for WordPress Hosting
With SiteGround, you can choose from shared, WordPress, reseller, cloud, or WooCommerce hosting, and dedicated servers. Fasthosts has hosting solutions for Linux and Windows with shared, reseller, VPS, and dedicated servers. It also offers WordPress hosting.
SiteGround has three managed WordPress hosting packages as opposed to Fasthosts’ single WordPress hosting plan.
At first glance, Fasthosts appears to be much cheaper than SiteGround. It promotes paying less when you add more WordPress sites to your plan. However, you can get up to unlimited websites with SiteGround and higher resources at a lower price.
Unlike SiteGround, Fasthosts provides a free domain. However, you’ll get free website migration with SiteGround, a feature that Fasthosts doesn’t offer.
Both hosts have a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The winner? SiteGround. It has more WordPress hosting solutions, and you can get an unlimited number of websites at a lower price than Fasthosts.
2. Features
SiteGround Gives You More Resource Allocations and Freebies
SiteGround provides you with 10 GB to 40 GB SSD storage, unlimited email accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, 1 to unlimited websites, and unmetered bandwidth. You also get free Cloudflare CDN, free SSL certificate, daily backups, WP-CLI, and SSH access.
In comparison, Fasthosts’ single WordPress hosting package includes 10 GB of SSD storage, 1 x 1 GB database, 5 x 2 GB mailboxes, and a free SSL certificate. Unlike SiteGround, Fasthosts doesn’t provide a free CDN or automatic backups.
Use the following side-by-side table to compare SiteGround and Fasthosts further:
| SiteGround | Fasthosts | |

3. Performance
SiteGround has Better Actual Uptime and Faster Website Loading Speeds
SiteGround has data centers in the U.S.A., the U.K., the Netherlands, and Singapore. Fasthosts only has servers in the U.K. In other words, SiteGround has a more global presence when it comes to server locations.
Both hosts use SSD storage with all plans, which performs faster than HDD storage when processing site data. This difference in performance reflects directly on your website’s stability and loading speed.
You’ll get a free CDN with all of SiteGround’s plans, but not with Fasthosts. A CDN, or Content Delivery Network, boosts your website’s loading speed by placing it on a global network of cloud servers.
SiteGround promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee and showed a perfect actual uptime with no downtimes when put to the test. On the contrary, Fasthosts doesn’t have an uptime guarantee, and it showed a few downtimes when tested.
I used Sucuri to test the loading speed of SiteGround from different global locations; most places showed perfect load times. Unfortunately, the slightly slower locations were enough to bring SiteGround’s global score down to a B. Click here for a detailed review of SiteGround.

On the other hand, when testing Fasthosts global loading speed using the same platform, most locations showed disappointing numbers resulting in a discouraging global score of F. Here is a detailed review of Fasthosts.

SiteGround is the winner of this round as it has more performance features, better actual uptime, and faster website loading speeds.
4. Security
SiteGround has a Wider Range of Security Features
SiteGround has a security package that comes with all its plans, including Web Application Firewall (WAF), an artificial intelligence (AI) anti-bot system (protecting against malicious attacks including DDoS and Brute-Force), 24/7 server monitoring, and access to the Sucuri-developed SG Scanner (antimalware).
On the other hand, Fasthosts has 24/7 server monitoring and implements DDoS protection via Server Pooling Technology. This system securely isolates each account from others on the same server (in the case of shared hosting) to protect against threats targeting those accounts.
SiteGround has a similar system, called Unique Account Isolation, which serves the same purpose.
Another benefit of the free CDN included with all of SiteGround’s plans is that it acts as an additional DDoS protection layer.
SiteGround takes automatic daily backups of all its hosted websites to protect your data from being lost due to external causes. Unfortunately, Fasthosts doesn’t include automatic backups with its plans.
SiteGround proves to be a much more secure host due to its comprehensive range of security features.
5. Support
SiteGround’s Live Chat is More Reliable Than Fasthosts
Both SiteGround and Fasthosts have comprehensive knowledgebases. However, SiteGround’s knowledgebase is more organized, making it easier to navigate and find the information you need.
You can contact SiteGround’s support via live chat or phone. Both channels are available 24/7. I went for the live chat as I prefer using online channels, and as soon as I typed in my questions, I received a response with no hesitation or knowledge gaps. Very helpful and reliable indeed.
![[SiteGround] - [Live chat]](https://dt2sdf0db8zob.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/siteground-vs-fasthosts-3.png)
You can reach Fasthosts’ customer support through live chat, phone, email, and support ticket. Regrettably, live chat operates within specific hours and isn’t accessible 24/7. As a result, I had to utilize a support ticket to submit my inquiries. On a positive note, I swiftly received a response within minutes, and the provided answers were both comprehensive and immensely beneficial.
![[Fasthost] - [Support chat]](https://dt2sdf0db8zob.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/siteground-vs-fasthosts-4.png)
Both hosts have impressive customer support, but SiteGround’s 24/7 live chat channel makes it slightly more reliable than Fasthosts.
