Even though Fasthosts may seem cheaper than SiteGround, SiteGround for WordPress hosting actually offers a better bargain.
In order to make a fair comparison between SiteGround and Fasthosts, I tested SiteGround and Fasthosts on features, pricing, support, security, and performance. Fasthosts lost out to SiteGround in all five rounds.

1. Plans and Pricing
SiteGround Offers Better Value for WordPress Hosting Than Fasthosts
With SiteGround, you can choose from shared, WordPress hosting, reseller, cloud, WooCommerce hosting, or dedicated servers. Fasthosts offers hosting solutions for Linux and Windows through shared, reseller, VPS, and dedicated servers. It also offers WordPress hosting.
SiteGround offers three managed WordPress hosting packages as opposed to Fasthosts’ single WordPress hosting plan.
SiteGround Web Hosting
Fasthosts Web Hosting
At first glance, Fasthosts appears to be much cheaper than SiteGround, especially when it promotes paying less when you add more WordPress websites to your plan. However, you can get up to unlimited websites with SiteGround and higher resources at a lower price than Fasthosts.
Unlike SiteGround, Fasthosts offers a free domain. In contrast, SiteGround offers a free website migration, but Fasthosts doesn’t. Both hosts offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The winner? SiteGround. It offers more WordPress hosting solutions and you can get an unlimited number of hosted websites at a cheaper price than Fasthosts.
SiteGround Gives You More Resource Allocations and Freebies Than Fasthosts
SiteGround provides you with 10 GB to 40 GB SSD storage, unlimited email accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, and unmetered bandwidth. In addition, you can host from 1 to unlimited websites. That’s not all, with all packages, you get free CloudFlare CDN, free SSL certificate, daily backups, WP-CLI, and SSH access.
In comparison, Fasthosts’ single WordPress hosting package includes 10 GB of SSD storage, 1xGB database, 5x 2GB mailboxes, and a free SSL certificate. Unlike SiteGround, Fasthosts doesn’t offer free CDN or automatic backups.
Use the following side-by-side table to further compare SiteGround and Fasthosts:

SiteGround has Better Actual Uptime and Faster Website Loading Speeds
SiteGround’s data centers are located in the U.S.A., U.K., the Netherlands, and Singapore while Fasthosts only has servers in the U.K. In other words, SiteGround has a more global presence, when it comes to server locations.
Both hosts use SSD storage with all their plans which performs much faster than the regular HDD storage, in terms of website data processing. This difference in performance reflects directly on the website’s stability, loading speed, and overall performance.
A free CDN is included with all of SiteGround’s plans, but isn’t available with any of Fasthosts’ services. CDN or Content Delivery Network boosts the loading speed of your website globally, when activated, by placing it on a global network of cloud servers.
SiteGround promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee and, when put to the test, showed a perfect actual uptime with no downtimes. On the contrary, Fasthosts doesn’t have an uptime guarantee, but when tested, it showed a few downtimes throughout the duration of the test.
When using Sucuri to test the loading speed of SiteGround from different global locations, most of the locations showed perfect load times. Only a few locations showed slower loading speeds. Unfortunately these locations were enough to bring SiteGround’s global score down to a B. Click here for a detailed review of SiteGround.
On the other hand, when testing Fasthosts global loading speed, using the same platform, most of the locations showed disappointing numbers resulting in a discouraging global score of F. Here is a detailed review of Fasthosts.
It’s quite clear that SiteGround is the winner in this round as it offers more performance features, has better actual uptime, and faster website loading speeds.
SiteGround Offers a Wider Range of Security Features
SiteGround’s security can be summed up in a single package that comes with all its plans. The package includes including Web Application Firewall (WAF), it’s own artificial intelligence (AI) anti-bot system (protects against malicious attacks including DDoS and Brute-Force attacks), 24/7 server monitoring, and access to the Sucuri-developed SG Scanner (antimalware).
On the other hand, Fasthosts has 24/7 server monitoring and implements DDoS protections through Server Pooling Technology. This system securely isolates each account from other accounts on the same server (in the case of shared hosting) to protect it against any threats targeting the other accounts.
SiteGround has a similar system, called Unique Account Isolation, which serves the same purpose.
Another benefit of the free CDN that’s included with all of SiteGround’s plans is that it acts as an additional layer of DDoS protection to protect it’s network from any external threat.
SiteGround takes automatic daily backups of all its hosted websites to protect your data from being lost due to any external causes. Unfortunately Fasthosts doesn’t include automatic backups with its plans.
SiteGround proves to be a much more secure host due to its much wider range of inclusive security features.
SiteGround’s Live Chat is More Reliable Than that of Fasthosts
Both SiteGround and Fasthosts have comprehensive Knowledgebase sections, but SiteGround’s Knowledgebase is more organized making it easier to navigate and find the required information.
You can contact |SiteGround’s support through live chat or phone. Both channels are available 24/7. I obviously went for the live chat as I prefer using the online channels. As soon as I typed in the questions, I was instantly connected to an agent who answered all my questions with no hesitation or knowledge gaps. Very helpful and reliable indeed.
On the other hand, Fasthosts’ customer support is available through live chat, phone, email, and support ticket. Unfortunately the live chat isn’t available 24/7 so I was forced to submit my questions in a ticket. On the upside, I received the reply within minutes and the answers were detailed and very helpful.
Both hosts have impressive customer support, but SiteGround’s more available live chat channel makes it slightly more reliable than Fasthosts.
