To compare the best website builders on ease of use, templates, customer service, and value for money, we tried to build the same site on each platform. Check out the results here.
WebEden is a simple drag-and-drop website builder from the UK that allows its users to create professional websites complete with social network integration, media plugins, and SEO elements. Clicking on the “Let’s Get Started” button takes you to a selection of free professionally-designed themes. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to preview each template: you have to pick out what seems best from the thumbnails available, and if you want a different theme, you’ll have to start the process from scratch. After that, you get to choose your custom WebEden subdomain name and create an account. Once you’re all set up, you can plug in your content, adjust the look as needed, and you’re good to go.
Do note that WebEden employs a Flashed-based editor, which may not be compatible with certain devices – and may be challenging if you plan on editing on the go. The websites they churn out are built with HTML5, however, so visitors loading them won’t have an issue.
That said, WebEden’s most basic Lite plan offers unlimited bandwidth and pages with no ads, branding, or any other major restrictions – pretty generous for website builder standards. It also allows you to sell up to 20 products, and themes included are mobile-friendly. Next up is the Standard plan, which comes with a free domain registration, up to 50 products, and 5 connected websites. Discounts are given on annual subscriptions, and WebEden offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card details required.
