Features and Ease of Use
Smughost offers three shared hosting packages and six reseller hosting packages (as “Reseller” and “Master Reseller” packages). You can also choose from three VPS hosting packages and two managed WordPress hosting packages which aren’t mentioned on the main website. You have to visit the separate store (shopping cart) pages to see some of the hosting plans, and there are some inconsistencies between the two sources of information.
The shared hosting packages provide you with:
- SLA-backed 99.9% uptime guarantee
- 1 GB to unlimited storage
- 5 GB to unlimited bandwidth
- 1 to unlimited domains
- Unlimited email accounts
- cPanel and CloudLinux
- Free SSL certificates
- DDoS protection
- Daily backups
You can create a professional-looking website with the website builder, and you don’t need to be a professional web designer or developer to do so. Alternatively, you can set up a CMS-backed website using the Softaculous installer to install an application such as WordPress. Once your website is up-and-running, you can secure it with SiteLock.
One of Smughost’s more unusual offerings is its Travel Affiliate Website that provides everything you need to set up a travel agency/comparison website. It’s a bit niche, but it might appeal to some people.
Pricing and Support
Smughost’s shared hosting packages are priced considerably lower than the average, and a promo code for a month’s free hosting was available at the time of this review. You can pay only in British pounds (GBP) via PayPal or Stripe on a monthly basis. Shared and reseller hosting packages come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and VPS packages give you seven days to get out.
Although you should be able to contact customer services via email, Facebook Messenger, or three contact forms, I have to report that my questions went unanswered. On the plus side, the knowledge base includes a good number of entries:
