Features and Ease of Use
IIXMEDIA.COM provides a full suite of hosting services, including shared hosting, which comes with the following core features:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Daily, weekly, and monthly backups
- Free domain name available
- Up to three add-on domains
- SSL certificates available
- From 8000MB to unlimited bandwidth
- From 75MB to unlimited disk space
There are three types of shared hosting plans; Cheap, Unlimited, and SSD. The names are pretty self-explanatory, and aside from varying resource quotas and the choice of HDD and SSD drives, the features remain the same throughout the plans.
All plans run on Linux operating systems, with cPanel, an easy to use and reliable control panel, and have an industry standard 99.9% uptime guarantee, which isn’t backed by an SLA.
For ease of use, there’s a Softaculous installer (for an unknown number of programs), but if you need a website building tool, oddly, according to the website, this is only included in the reseller packages.
The available support for advanced features is less clear. There are MySQL databases, phpMyAdmin, and PHP support, but I needed to contact support and ask them whether remote SQL connections, SSH access, or Cron jobs were allowed. Unfortunately, I did not get confirmation.
Pricing and Support
You can choose between SSD or HDD plans, cheap plans with low resource quotas, and unlimited resource plans, so there’s a full range of monthly prices ranging from cheap to overpriced. On the plus side, there’s a plan for everyone, regardless of budget and technical requirements.
Plans can be purchased in terms ranging from one month to three years, with a steep discount for purchasing a longer term upfront. A dedicated IP, SSL certificate, and domain name are usually added costs on most plans. There’s a 30-day money-back guarantee on all hosting plans, so you can get started with minimal risk.
Customer service is available 24/7 by Yahoo Messenger, Live Chat (this was not working when I visited the website), and ticket support. Telephone help is only available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and there’s a satisfactory knowledge base on the website as well.
I sent a couple of emails around 7:00 p.m. on a Monday evening, one to the support email and one to the sales email address. I am disappointed to say, I did not get a response from either, despite waiting four business days.
