Features and Ease of Use
HostForWeb offers three plans: The Mini plan is for those businesses with one website looking to push marketing. The other two plans are more fitting for those with more than one website that need more processing power. These are some of the other features:
- Daily automatic backups
- Free private SSL on the top plan
- Either one or unlimited websites
- Free domain on the top two plans
- Either 10GB SSD or unlimited SSD
- 100GB or unlimited traffic
HostForWeb doesn’t just attend to hosting features, leaving clients to fend for themselves for website development. It provides a set of tools to get your website online in a few minutes (really, hours). There’s a drag-and-drop website builder with hundreds of templates.
There’s also a one-click installer that supports over 300 pre-installed scripts, including WordPress and Joomla!. You don’t have to waste even five minutes setting the application up. In less than a minute, your CMS will be provisioned on your website.
The control panel is cPanel, which is dubbed the “easiest to use.” Others may disagree, and prefer alternatives such as Plesk. Nevertheless, cPanel is undoubtedly one of the easiest to use because it has an intuitive design.
HostForWeb offers solid state disks. These, coupled with LiteSpeed webserver that it uses, hold promises of great hosting. Also, those on the top plan get 2.5X more CPU power.
The vendor provides DDoS protection and if you want more security and speed, you can connect your website to Cloudflare. This is something that you can easily do from your control panel.
Pricing and Support
Depending on the plan you choose, you can pay for a month at a time. The starter plan only allows for annual payments, while the other two plans allow for monthly payments. All of these plans come with a discount if you opt for the higher duration. Although the prices are low, be aware that the prices quoted for the top two plans only apply for 36-month hosting. The monthly subscription fee is significantly more than that.
If you’re looking to migrate from your current host, HostForWeb will handle the migration process at no cost. Plus, you get a free domain renewal. New clients are provided with a 30-day period to get a refund if they don’t like the service.
Customer support is available through a knowledge base, live chat, email, phone, and ticketing system. In my experience, the agent was forthcoming with answers in live chat.
How much does HostForWeb cost?HostForWeb offers plans from $4 to $13. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which HostForWeb plan should I get?My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. HostForWeb can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from HostForWeb here.
How good is HostForWeb’s customer support?HostForWeb is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of HostForWeb being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
