Ukraine-based Host-UA was founded in 2009, and it has servers in Ukraine and the Netherlands. Its services include shared hosting, dedicated servers, VPS hosting, and domain registration. Although its attractive and nicely organized website is in Russian, all prices are displayed in U.S. dollars.
Features and Ease of Use
Although the names may be different, the four hosting plans available at the two locations (Ukraine and the Netherlands) come with the same features, which are:
- 99.99% uptime guarantee
- SSD storage
- Free domain (with some plans)
- Free SSL certificate
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Daily backups
- Free website builder
- DirectAdmin control panel
- Softaculous installer
The plan levels differ in terms of disk space and the number of hosted websites.
Even though the cPanel control panel isn’t an option, I find the provided DirectAdmin control panel almost as user-friendly for managing domains, files, email accounts, FTP accounts, website backups, and more. At the Ukranian location, you can alternatively choose the ISPmanager control panel.
All shared hosting subscriptions also include the Softaculous app installer that helps you install popular programs such as WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop, Drupal, Typo3, phpBB, Magento, and more. An alternative to using one of these programs to populate your website with content is to build your website from scratch using the free SitePad website builder. You don’t need any special technical skills, and you can choose from a range of design templates.
Pricing and Support
Host-UA sells very affordable price plans for the features on offer, and you can pay by PayPal, WebMoney, Privat24, LiqPay, bank transfer, or credit card. Choose to be billed monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, and take comfort from the 14-day money-back guarantee that gives you an opportunity to get out early if anything goes wrong. If you think 14 days isn’t enough to test the services, take even more comfort from the 30-day free trial that allows you to properly try before you buy.
Although Host-AU provides a decent knowledge base that contains some tutorials and an FAQ, you might still wish to contact the support team by telephone, support ticket, or email. Surprisingly, I received a reply in less than an hour when I emailed several questions:
