ProHoster sports an attractive information-packed website that can be switched between the Russian and English languages. It presents all prices in U.S. dollars.
Features and Ease of Use
ProHoster sells five Linux-based unlimited shared hosting plans, which — as the name suggests — provide you with unlimited traffic, subdomains, hosted websites (except on the lowest plan), MySQL databases, and FTP accounts. You also benefit from these features:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free domain
- Free SSL support
- SSI, WAP, and CGI support
- phpMyAdmin
- Antispam and DDoS protection
- PHP 5.2 to 7.1, Perl 5, and Python
- Zend Optimizer and Zend Guard
- Cron jobs
- Free site builder and Softaculous installer
As already alluded, ProHoster is pretty generous with its resource allocations, and I can say the same about the storage capacity that ranges from 5 GB to 100 GB. If you need more disk space, you can get up to 200 GB SSD storage with a VPS plan.
Since you don’t get the popular cPanel control panel, you might like to replace the provided ISP Panel by purchasing one of the other offered control panels. That said, ISP Panel includes the Softaculous installer that comes with hundreds of CMS and other application installation scripts.
As an alternative to populating your website with CMS content, you can use the free website builder that lets you create your website from a collection of 190 ready-made templates, no coding required.
CloudLinux isolates you from the adverse effects of other hosted users, and they provide free DDoS protection and SSL certificates to ensure your website is safe.
Pricing and Support
Compared with other hosting providers, ProHoster’s feature-packed shared hosting solutions are very affordable, especially when you consider the free domain, free SSL, free DDoS protection, and other freebies. Plus the unlimited resources, of course.
Although there are no refunds (as far as I know), the 14-day free trial should give you just enough time to try before you buy. Then, you can pay by Bitcoin, credit cards, WebMoney, PayPal, Yandex.Money, Interkassa, or ADVcash.
You can contact ProHoster’s customer support team via a ticket system, email, or live chat during working hours. My ticket submission was answered within 24 hours, but since it didn’t address all my queries, I sought additional advice via the live chat channel:
How much does ProHoster cost?
ProHoster offers plans from $3 to $14. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which ProHoster plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. ProHoster can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from ProHoster here.
How good is ProHoster’s customer support?
ProHoster is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of ProHoster being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
