HostSo offers hosting services from its data center in Orlando, Florida, although its owning company Hostfast is based in London, England, and its website is in English. It boasts about having served more than 60,000 customers.
Features and Ease of Use
HostSo’s four web hosting tiers are Aspire, Achieve, Elite, and Ultra. The Aspire plan includes 200 GB of web space, 10 MySQL databases, and hosting for one website. The Elite level gives you a free domain, 900 GB of web space, 50 MySQL databases, and hosting for 20 websites.
All hosting plans include unlimited bandwidth and the following:
- Free domain with some plans
- 24/7 customer service
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- RVsitebuilder
- Fantastico script installer
- 90-day money-back guarantee
All hosting plans provide RVsitebuilder for free, which allows you to create a website in less than 30 minutes via a drag-and-drop interface. The only downside is that the 600+ templates look pretty dated by today’s standards.
HostSo’s Florida data center is connected to eight individual internet backbones. Redundant power is provided by multiple power grid connections, UPS battery backups, and dual power generators. Fire suppression includes Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA). Security includes more than 100 motion-detection security cameras. Taken together, these characteristics help HostSo ensure 99.9% uptime.
Pricing and Support
Website hosting starts with the very-affordable entry-level plan that costs about the same as a cup of fast food chain coffee per month, which is quite a bit below what the majority of North American and European providers charge. I do wonder what website loading speeds we can expect at this price point.
The entry-level Aspire hosting plan can be bought on one- or two-year billing cycles, but the higher tier plans can also be paid for semi-annually. You get a discount of about 10% for committing to two years rather than one. The Elite and Ultra plans also include a free domain.
You can contact HostSo via telephone, live chat, ticket system, Skype, and postal mail. However, only ticket support is available on the entry-level Aspire plan. I was able to summon some pre-sales support straightaway via live chat.
For self-support, HostSo provides a satisfactory knowledge base.
