Hostname’s data center is in Chile, and its website is in Spanish.
Features and Ease of Use
Hostname.cl provides three levels of personal shared website hosting: Blogging Hosting, Basic Hosting, and Professional Hosting. The entry-level Blogging plan includes 1 GB of disk space, 10 email accounts, two parked domains, and two MySQL databases. The highest Professional plan gives you 6 GB of disk space, 100 email accounts, unlimited parked and subdomains, five additional domains, and 24 MySQL databases.
All shared annual plans include unlimited monthly data transfer and the following features:
- Free SSL for one year
- RVsitebuilder
- Daily website backups
- WordPress
- Softaculous software installer
- 99.75% uptime guarantee
Hostname’s shared hosting plans come with the Softaculous software installer that allows you to install many popular web applications with just one click from the cPanel control panel. Around 450 installation scripts are available for blogs, e-commerce tools, web portals, forums, surveys, and more.
Web hosting packages also include the RVsitebuilder website builder. Its drag-and-drop interface allows even non-technical users to create responsive websites with ease, by first choosing a template and then including your own logo, content, and social media links. You also get tools to improve your SEO and view website performance reports.
Pricing and Support
Hostname.cl’s shared web hosting plans are pretty competitively priced compared to international providers. You should go for a low-priced plan if you simply want to save money and you don’t need much data. However, some customers could find the resource levels to be too restrictive compared with other providers who offer more disk space.
Hosting plans can be bought on various billing cycles, depending on the plan. For example, the Blogging plan is only available annually whereas the Basic plan can be bought semi-annually or annually. The Professional plan also adds a monthly billing option.
Customer service can be accessed via email or telephone during Chilean office hours, but technical support is advertised as 24/7. Unfortunately, I received no response when I reached out for pre-sales support via email. For self-support, there is a blog, a set of tutorial videos, and a small FAQ knowledge base.
