Relatively new to the market, HostCupid is an Indian-based web hosting provider that was founded in 2018. It offers shared hosting (Windows and Linux), reseller hosting (Windows and Linux), VPS hosting (Linux only), and domain registration. All its services are delivered through its data center in Germany.
Even though the HostCupid website has a professional layout, it still lacks some information as it’s still under development. The website is available in more than 20 languages including English, French, German, and several others. You can choose to have the prices displayed in either U.S. dollars or Indian rupees.
Features and Ease of Use
HostCupid offers shared hosting for both Windows and Linux (cPanel Hosting). There are three plans offered for each operating system. The Linux plans are Lite, Swift, and Pro while the Windows plans are Basic, Premium, and Pro.
You’ll notice that the Linux plans vary mainly in storage, the number of hosted websites, RAM, number of MySQL databases, and inodes among other minor differences. On the other hand, all plans come with unlimited bandwidth and the following common features:
- SSH access
- Cron jobs
- Free website builder
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free SSL certificate
- Free weekly backups
- Free domain (first year of annual contracts)
While the Windows plans share a lot of the above features, they differ in the number of hosted websites, MSSQL databases, MySQL databases, and monthly bandwidth, and a few other features. Nevertheless, all Windows packages come with unlimited storage, Plesk control panel, and a built-in software installer.
Both cPanel and Plesk control panels share a highly user-friendly management interface which allows you to easily take control over all aspects of your website. This includes managing website files, domains, backup intervals, FTP accounts, databases, and much more.
I particularly like the availability of Softaculous installer which is known for its ease of use and the large number of supported CMS applications and scripts. With a single click, you can install all your favorite apps including WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, Opencart, Typo3, phpBB, and hundreds more.
On the other hand, Plesk has its own built-in installer which is almost as easy to use as Softaculous, but supports slightly less applications and scripts.
Want to build your own website from scratch, but don’t have the technical skills? Well, you’re in luck. HostCupid offers a free website builder that contains hundreds of different ready-made website layouts to choose from.
Pricing and Support
HostCupid’s overall prices are impressively cheap. You can also choose to be billed monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
Most of HostCupid’s services are backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee and you can pay only via Razorpay.
On the negative side, I was disappointed to find the Knowledgebase on the website completely empty. No FAQ section or tutorials either.
Contacting customer support can be done via live chat, phone, email, or support ticket. I tried contacting the live chat, but no one was there to help me, so I sent all my questions through email. Fortunately, after 24 hours, I received a reply with all my questions answered.
Remote support via Anydesk is also available.
