DHost Review 2024 – Why You Need to Give It a Try

Mark Holden Written by: Mark Holden

The idea of DHost was born ten years ago when Alexandru Dinu was working on an elementary project to host a gaming server. With time, this Romanian company evolved and started focusing on a more stable niche that involved website hosting, web design and domain registration for individuals and companies.

Overview

DHost1

DHost was conceived by its founder – Alexandru Dinu, as a gaming server in 2009. Despite starting off as a hosting service provider for different games and hubs, the company evolved over time to offer website hosting, domain registration, and web design services. DHost became a CloudFlare partner in 2011. The company introduced several domains extensions specific to the business area like .shop, .academy, .photo etc from the beginning of 2016. The same year, it became one of the first Romanian companies to offer SSL certificates to all its customers. In 2017, DHost introduced an improved, faster and more efficient backup system that would keep backups for seven days (unlike the previous system of weekly and the previous day’s backup). The company allowed its customers direct access to this backup from cPanel. Though DHost’s website supports Romanian, its client area supports twenty-five additional languages.

Features and Ease of Use

DHost offers shared hosting, dedicated hosting, cloud hosting and reselling services. It also offers SSL certificates, domain registration and transfer, and website creation services. The company offers three shared hosting plans – Starter, Basic, and Premium. They differ in terms of monthly traffic (150 GB to unlimited), storage (4-20 GB), hosted domains (1-8), and RAM (512-1024 MB). All three plans come with

  • Unlimited email
  • Unlimited databases
  • 15 GB cloud storage

DHost offers a free shared hosting plan for a month for you to test and see if it suits your needs. With it, you will get 1 hosted domain, 5 GB monthly traffic, 300 MB storage, 1 SQL database, 256 MB RAM, and 3 email addresses.

Some unique features of DHost include

  • CloudFlare protection
  • cPanel/WHM Plus! (with cloud hosting)
  • External automatic backup (weekly and daily)
  • Unlimited MySQL databases
  • Unlimited FTP users
  • Advanced Piwic (now Matomo) system for site visitor and revenue analytics
  • Free DNS management
  • Easy and fast installation of OpenCart, WordPress, phpBB and more via Softaculous
  • Weebly website builder

Pricing and Support

DHost’s shared hosting plans are extremely cheap. While two of its higher plans are payable monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually, its entry-level plan (which doesn’t have a monthly billing cycle) can also be paid biennially. You can pay for these plans in EURO via PayPal, direct bank transfer/OP transfer, or MobilePay card payment.

You can reach the company’s support staff via phone, email, live chat, or a ticket support system. Though DHost claims to offer 24/7 support via email, ticketing, and chat, I failed to access its live chat during office hours. Even my query submitted through its ticket system went answered, which I think reflects badly on the company.

Host offers a Help section where you can find answers to some of the most frequently searched questions. Their knowledgebase is also a valuable self-help resource. Additionally, you can stay updated on the company’s latest offerings, find troubleshooting tips, and get answers to various questions by visiting DHost’s blog.
