Ace-Host's basic website looks a little bit unappealing, and its selection of shared hosting plans is surprisingly narrow. Just one, in fact. However, you'll find the essential hosting services here, albeit at slightly high prices.

Overview

acehost main

If you are in a hurry, and just want the bottom line: for the same price as Ace-Host you can get much better servers with 24/7 support with Hostinger, so why even bother?!

American host Ace-Host was launched in 2003 as the hosting brand of Acenet, Inc. It serves its 50,000 customers with Linux web hosting on servers housed in a Southfield, Detroit data center.

For a company that’s been in business for more than a decade, I have to admit to thinking that Ace-Host’s main English-language website is surprisingly basic and unpolished. Its WHMCS-powered client site is available in additional languages and includes a surprisingly well-stocked knowledge base.

Features and Ease of Use

Ace-Host offers a very narrow range of hosting solutions that include shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS (cloud servers), and dedicated servers. The sole shared hosting plan provides these key features:

  • 99.9% uptime
  • Dedicated IP
  • cPanel control panel
  • 32 GB disk space
  • 320 GB bandwidth
  • 2 GB memory
  • Daily backups
  • Softaculous script installer

From the feature list, it seems you get the essentials with this hosting plan, i.e., the cPanel control panel and the Softaculous installer. So, you can manage your hosting via a familiar interface, and you can install CMS apps such as WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla. As an alternative to a CMS-backed website, you could create your website yourself using the site builder.

You also get the usual Linux hosting features, including SSH access, Cron jobs, MySQL, remote MySQL, and phpMyAdmin. SSL certificates are sold separately.

Moving up from shared hosting, Ace-Host sells six VPS hosting packages (which it calls “cloud servers”) that have 50 GB to 1,600 GB SSD storage, 500 GB to 16 TB bandwidth, and 2.5 GB to 80 GB RAM.

Pricing and Support

Ace-Host

Whether you want shared hosting, VPS, or dedicated server solutions, you find that Ace-Host’s prices are slightly higher than average. There is no free domain, and SSL certificates cost extra, but you do get a 30-day money-back guarantee that should make you feel better if (like me) you’re unsure about signing up.

Although Ace-Host doesn’t offer a live chat or phone support, its 24/7 ticket support team is quite responsive. I received a response to my test ticket within two hours.

Bottom line on Ace-Host

Ace-Host falls short on a few things, such as the variety of shared hosting subscriptions and the lack of live chat and phone support. It does offer decent enough hosting solutions for small to medium-sized businesses, but individuals on a budget could be put off by the prices.

Before you make a decision, we highly recommend you check out some alternative hosting companies, which we highly recommend.

Pros

  • 99.9% uptime
  • SSD storage
  • 24/7 ticket support
  • Daily backups

Cons

  • Only one shared hosting solution
  • No live chat or phone support
