As its name suggests, 2FreeHosting (aka. 2FH) offers free hosting to global customers who need simple hosting solutions. Established in 2011, within only two years it had reached the milestone of hosting more than 300,000 active websites, and to date has hosted almost 600,000 websites in total.
2FreeHosting’s own website can be switched between seven different languages: English, Russian, Lithuanian, Spanish, French, Indonesian, and German.
Features and Ease of Use
2FreeHosting offers Free and Premium shared web hosting plans. The Free plan won’t cost you anything but will provide you with:
- 20 GB disk space
- 150 GB bandwidth
- 5 parked domains and 5 free subdomains
- Free cPanel control panel
- 10 MySQL databases and phpMyAdmin access
- Support for all PHP versions
- 10 FTP accounts
- Free instant setup
- Web file manager
- Custom error pages
- Hotlink protection
- ionCube support
- IMAP support
- WordPress support
- Web SSH access
- Cron jobs
- Weekly website backups
That’s a lot to get for free, and with a paid Premium plan you can also get unlimited disk space and bandwidth, unlimited parked domains, priority support, and five times faster servers.
Both plans provide Fantastico pre-installed scripts to facilitate the installation of additional applications. The company also offers a free Zyro website builder with free website templates, which you can use to create your website without development experience.
My experience with 2FreeHosting wasn’t great. After registering for free, I couldn’t set up a website because I kept receiving the error message, “An internal error occurred. Our developers have already been notified.”
2FreeHosting promises 99.9% uptime for its Free plan and 99.99% uptime for the Premium plan.
Pricing and Support
2FreeHosting’s “Free” plan is obviously free, and it’s pretty impressive that you get web building tools and templates included.
The free and paid plans’ underlying hosting services are both provided by popular host Hostinger, and – presumably as a promotional trick – you are taken to its 000webhost.com sister brand when you sign up. This is slightly confusing since the paid plan prices look to be higher than those advertised by 2FreeHosting. Buyer beware.
You can contact 2FreeHosting’s 24/7 support team by telephone, email, online contact form, and various social media platforms. Unfortunately, I received no reply to my online contact form submission.
For self-support, you can refer to 2FreeHosting’s blog, forum, or FAQ page.
