Wix Teams Up With Pinterest to Expand Social Commerce
Wix introduced a direct Pinterest integration, which enables merchants to promote and sell their products on the popular image-sharing platform. The integration is available through the Wix Dashboard, in various languages.
“This integration with Pinterest is fulfilling a much-demanded user need, and we’re bringing our merchants greater ability to generate revenue and succeed online,” Greg Sisung, Head of Sales Channels at Wix, explains in the company’s announcement.
Selling through Pinterest is enabled by connecting the Wix product catalog to the image-sharing platform: “Product information is synced automatically, so any updates made in Wix – such as price changes or new items – are also reflected on Pinterest,” the company explains in its announcement, adding that the setup process is quick, simple, and doesn’t require technical expertise.
Once a Wix store is synced with Pinterest, merchants can run targeted ads on the platform. Potential shoppers clicking on the ads will get redirected back to the merchant’s Wix site, where they can complete purchases.
A few months back, Wix introduced a partnership with Alibaba, giving its merchants access to international wholesale markets.
Earlier this year, Wix also teamed up with YouTube to expand social commerce opportunities for Wix store owners. With these updates, Wix is evolving from its general-purpose website builder roots and actively strengthening omnichannel selling capabilities for its merchants.
“Wix wants to empower anyone to build, manage, and grow a successful ecommerce business,” Sisung emphasized, adding, “Our strong multichannel selling and marketing capabilities expand merchant reach by enabling them to showcase their products on different platforms.”
Aside from e-commerce, Wix has introduced a number of other updates, including a financial services suite, an AI-powered visual design platform, and integrations with marketing automation platform ActiveCampaign, and a print-on-demand service, Printful. These additions show that Wix is steadily expanding beyond its website builder role, aiming to become an all-in-one platform for businesses.
