In an era where AI and automation dominate, Molly Winters reminds us that genuine human connection remains at the heart of effective marketing.
In her interview with
Website Planet, the founder of Connection Copywriting explains how empathy, intuition, and data-driven strategy can turn words into meaningful client relationships. Through her RELATE Writing Method and done-for-you copy services, Molly helps businesses sound less robotic and more real — the way they’d actually talk in person.
Her mission is simple yet powerful: to bridge the gap between brands and people by writing copy that feels human, warm, and impossible to ignore.
How does your “Connection Copywriting” method help businesses attract ideal clients and grow?
Human connection is the missing piece in so much marketing these days—and it’s been this way long before AI and ChatGPT.
As we become increasingly dependent on technology, we sometimes forget to look up from our screens and remember that we’re dealing with
real people.
Great copywriting begins with listening to and understanding your (ideal) reader — to get to the psychology behind their decision-making. You’re not doing this in a conniving, manipulative way, but in a way that connects the right people to the right solution.
When business owners, leadership executives, and board members think of copywriting, they automatically put on their figurative formal CEO hats, and the writing becomes stuffy, turning potential buyers away.
I try to help people think of it like this — what would you say if you were having this conversation in person? Is that how you’d sound? Often, we instinctively know what to say, but when we sit down to write sales copy, we suddenly change our style and approach.
You can be friendly, warm,
and professional in copywriting. We all learn in Marketing 101 that people need to know, like, and trust you before they buy — that’s why personality and connection are so important.
What types of “Done-For-You” copywriting services do you offer?
My done-for-you copywriting services have evolved over the years, and I now mostly focus on website copy and sales funnel copy, including email marketing that effectively connects
and converts.
Although I champion human connection in copywriting and marketing, I also know the importance of data and research in any effective strategy. Done-for-you projects always begin with extensive research, often including interviews or surveys that allow me to analyze the voice of the customer and get inside their head.
Copywriting is about so much more than making things sound pretty. It’s based on studies in human decision-making and is designed to get people to take ACTION. It is directly tied to sales by driving your ideal person to the YES that increases revenue.
This is all to say, there’s a TON that goes into copywriting before a single word is written!
What DIY writing support options do you provide for business owners?
With all that goes into done-for-you copywriting, I couldn’t work with small businesses or solopreneurs who were just starting — and I love that stage!
You need a lot when you’re just beginning, especially if you’re a solopreneur or have a small team, and not everyone can hire someone to write everything for them.
That’s why I created the RELATE Writing Method, which teaches small businesses what they need to know about copywriting and how to approach it. Writing for your business is hard — especially when you wear so many hats!
RELATE works for any small business, but beyond that, I’ve specialized in do-it-yourself templates and content for Professional Organizers.
As a former professional organizer myself, I know the struggle of juggling it all, so I wanted to create DIY materials to help them. Most recently, I established the Pro Organizer Content Community, a monthly membership that delivers a blog post, email newsletter, social media captions, Canva graphics, and a monthly marketing support call.
How do you help clients refine their messaging and brand voice?
Whenever I work with a new company, we start with a Zoom call where I ask them TONS of questions. We dig deep, and they often say, “
I’ve never thought about that before.”
This is essential to honing the brand voice because I need to hear it directly from the source. After that, I call my style intuitive writing, because I happen to have a knack for making it sound just like the brand or individual (if it’s a personal brand). As I’m writing, I often think to myself,
“No, they’d never say that!” and make rewrites as needed.
As far as the messaging goes, that involves more strategy and data than intuition. That’s where the data and research we discussed earlier come in to inform the overarching message — the things that get readers to make a decision.
Who are your ideal clients, and how do you support professional organizers and interior designers?
My done-for-you copywriting services are designed for established small businesses or companies that sell products or services online. Ideally, I work with purpose-driven companies that not only aim to increase revenue but also foster a sense of community and connection in their marketing. We can make the world a more connected, better place — and still increase your bottom line.
An ideal
dream client would be writing emails for comedy podcasts like Smartless or Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. I have a theory about comedians — they’re hilarious because they
understand people, so they’d likely need connection copywriting more than anyone!
As for professional organizers and interior designers, I love helping them because I know how important the
home is. These professionals help people love their home every single day, and I love supporting them.
How do your services reflect your belief that authentic voice drives deeper connection and results?
I’m a goofball and a nerd. I do my best to show up authentically because I know how important it is to connect with MY ideal clients. I want to attract people who like goofballs and nerds — otherwise, we just don’t
connect.
I’ve worked with some incredible people and brands, simply by showing up as me. So I can say firsthand that it drives a deeper connection and results. But the cool thing is, I’ve helped
those brands do the same thing. And lemme tell ya — they have
way bigger audiences than I do, so strong strategy and connection copywriting work together to create massive results. One client earned $30,000 in one week after implementing one of my email sequences, and another made more sales in seven days than she had in the previous six years.
Human connection, coupled with strong copywriting skills and strategy, creates massive results — and it feels more fulfilling, too.
