In this interview, we sit down with Jeff Green, Owner of Green Thoughts, to explore the journey of his company from its early days helping local businesses with strategy and growth to becoming a full-service digital marketing agency. Speaking with Website Planet, Jeff shares insights into the development of his DDTC method, the company’s client-focused approach, and how creativity and data work together to drive measurable results.
How did Green Thoughts Consulting begin and evolve into the full-service digital marketing agency it is today?
Green Thoughts Consulting began more than 15 years ago, rooted in my background as a financial analyst and business coach.
At first, I was helping local businesses with strategy, numbers, and growth planning, and digital marketing naturally grew out of that work. What started as small projects, building websites, running SEO campaigns, and consulting, quickly expanded as clients saw results and wanted more.
Over time, we evolved into a full-service digital marketing agency with systems that deliver both clarity and performance. Today, alongside our core agency work, we also build and manage niche lead-generation websites in industries like contracting, landscaping, and local services.
That diversification lets us test strategies in real markets and bring proven systems back to our clients.
What inspired the development of your DDTC (Define, Design, Traffic, Convert) method, and how has it shaped your client work?
The DDTC framework came from seeing too many businesses approach marketing backwards. They would pour money into a new website or ad campaign without first defining their audience, messaging, or conversion goals.
That is why we start with Define, then move to Design, then Traffic, and finally Convert. To put it bluntly, a website without traffic is useless. You can have the best design in the world, but if no one sees it, it is dead weight.
DDTC makes sure every step works together. We define goals, design strategically, generate traffic, and then optimize for conversions. This process gives clients confidence that they are investing in a system, not scattered tactics.
How does your company culture, centered on integrity and collaboration, influence your everyday operations?
Our culture is built on long-term trust. Too many businesses have been burned by agencies that overpromise and underdeliver.
At Green Thoughts, integrity is non-negotiable. Clear communication, transparent reporting, and setting realistic expectations are core to everything we do.
Collaboration means we do not run campaigns in isolation. We work closely with clients’ teams, listen carefully, and treat them as true partners. That culture is the reason our client relationships last for years, not just months.
In what ways do you differentiate your services for small business clients compared to larger agencies?
Large agencies often treat small businesses as an afterthought. We do the opposite. We specialize in creating right-sized strategies that fit their needs.
A local deck builder does not need the same approach as a national e-commerce brand. By focusing on service industries, we have developed systems that generate leads affordably.
Our clients get senior-level expertise, personalized service, and proven strategies without needing a Fortune 500 budget.
How do you balance creative innovation with measurable results in your approach to digital marketing?
We believe creativity and data should always work together. Fresh creative keeps campaigns competitive, but we never launch anything without a way to measure its impact.
Every campaign is tracked against key metrics, including cost per lead, conversion rate, and ROI, so we know exactly what is working. That mix of innovation and accountability ensures clients get marketing that looks great but, more importantly, performs.
