In this interview with
Website Planet, founder Kosmas Giavasis shares how the team balances growth with a hands-on philosophy—and why that makes all the difference.
What inspired BrandaLAB to evolve from a local Greek web design studio into a full-service agency offering branding, SEO, e‑shops, Google & Facebook Ads, and content strategy?
BrandaLAB was born out of a passion for web design and a desire to help small businesses in Greece establish a strong online presence. Over time, we realized that a beautiful website alone wasn’t enough—what our clients truly needed was a comprehensive digital strategy that could drive real results. That’s what inspired us to evolve into a full-service digital agency.
As we started working with a broader range of clients—from local artisans to international brands—we witnessed firsthand how crucial it is to align design, SEO, content, and digital advertising. We didn’t just want to build websites—we wanted to build brands with purpose and visibility. This shift pushed us to invest in ongoing learning, expand our team, and gradually introduce services like performance marketing, content strategy, and branding. Today, BrandaLAB is proud to offer a 360° approach that turns ideas into measurable digital success stories.
How do you tailor your web and e‑shop development process—from brand identity through UX/UI—to align with each client’s unique needs and goals?
Every business has its own story, audience, and objectives—and we believe its digital presence should reflect exactly that. Our process always begins with understanding the client’s brand DNA: who they are, what they stand for, and where they want to go. From there, we craft a strategy that combines visual identity, content tone, and user experience design into a cohesive whole.
We don’t rely on one-size-fits-all templates. Instead, we design and develop each website or e‑shop from the ground up, using tools like WordPress and WooCommerce, enhanced by custom UX/UI elements tailored to each market segment. We conduct interviews, analyze user behavior, and collaborate closely with our clients at every stage—from wireframes to final deployment.
The goal is always the same: to build websites that are not only visually compelling but also intuitive, accessible, and conversion-focused. This user-centered approach ensures that each project serves as a true extension of the brand while meeting concrete business goals.
What role do SEO strategies and performance-focused technologies like LiteSpeed servers play in ensuring fast, high-ranking websites for your clients?
SEO and performance optimization are at the core of every website and e‑shop we build. We approach SEO holistically—from technical audits and structured data to content optimization and international SEO—ensuring our clients achieve high visibility in their target markets.
On the technical side, we leverage cutting-edge technologies such as LiteSpeed servers, object caching, optimized database queries, and image compression. These choices significantly reduce loading times, which not only improve user experience but also directly impact search engine rankings.
But beyond tools and techniques, what sets BrandaLAB apart is our hands-on support. We’re not just developers; we’re long-term partners. Whether it’s resolving performance issues, monitoring SEO health, or fine-tuning speed scores, we’re always just a message or call away. Our clients know they can rely on us for prompt, professional assistance—something we take great pride in.
Could you describe how your System Status WordPress plugin reflects your team’s commitment to proactive support and site optimisation?
The System Status plugin is a simple yet powerful WordPress tool we created in-house at BrandaLAB, originally for internal use. As we manage and monitor over 300 active websites, we needed a lightweight and centralized way to track critical system information—such as PHP versions, memory limits, SSL status, caching, and other performance-related data—without relying on bulky third-party tools.
It was born out of necessity, but once we saw how much time it saved our team and how valuable it was for offering proactive support to our clients, we decided to share it with the WordPress community—completely free of charge.
The plugin reflects our philosophy: stay one step ahead, keep things simple, and always put client support first. By empowering developers and site owners with at-a-glance diagnostics, we help prevent issues before they escalate, enabling faster troubleshooting and better-informed decisions. It’s just one more way we show our commitment to transparency, reliability, and hands-on care for every project we manage.
With over 300 websites and 50 e‑shops delivered since 2009, how does the team maintain a personalized client experience while scaling your services?
Scalability without losing the personal touch has always been a priority for us at BrandaLAB. Even as our portfolio grew to include hundreds of websites and e‑shops, we made a conscious decision to stay close to our clients and keep communication direct, fast, and human.
We achieve this by combining solid internal workflows with a relationship-driven mindset. Each project is assigned a dedicated point of contact—often a senior team member or even the founder—who knows the client’s needs inside out. We use tools like Trello, Slack, and Notion for transparency, but never replace personal connection with automation.
At the same time, we’ve invested in building a modular, efficient development process. This allows us to deliver high-quality results at scale, without compromising on creativity or service. Whether it’s a local bakery or a multinational B2B company, every client receives the same level of attention, strategic thinking, and ongoing support. For us, success is not just about launching a site—it’s about building long-term partnerships based on trust and results.
As a Greek company with clients across Europe and beyond, how do you handle cross-border projects while ensuring cultural relevance and high service quality?
Working with clients from different countries—whether in Western Europe, the Balkans, or even further abroad—has been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey. At BrandaLAB, we treat cultural diversity not as a challenge, but as a creative opportunity.
We begin every cross-border project by researching the target market’s digital behaviors, aesthetic preferences, and language tone. From multilingual SEO and local payment gateways to cultural nuances in UI design, we make sure every website feels local to its intended audience, even if it’s built thousands of kilometers away.
Equally important is our service model: responsive, organized, and always in sync with client expectations. We’ve structured our communication around clarity and trust, offering fluent English support and flexible collaboration hours to accommodate international time zones. Combined with our strong technical foundation, this allows us to deliver premium-quality results without friction—whether the client is based in Thessaloniki, Brussels, or the United States.
Ultimately, our goal is to offer the reliability of a big agency with the agility and care of a boutique team—and that’s what our international clients appreciate most.
