Got all of my designs rejected as "poor quality/execution" and got my account locked. All I saw was really bad quality designs winning. Support was not able to argue when asked how do really bad quality designs get accepted and win. Even if you are desperate for money, avoid this scam hole. I have a feeling that their designer bots will probably submit my designs later to cash in. That would seem to be a logic, get free designs, reject them, suspend designer, take part in the contest as a designer bot with rejected design, cash in if you get chosen and no money has to be paid to the designer. Basically it could be an illusion tricking designers and clients about many designers are competing, out of 50 maybe 10 are real, yet most of the money stays in the company.
I created three accounts in the design crowd and they deactivate it every time when I submit the design
the reason they are telling is my design is not up to their standard quality
but I uploaded the jpg image of 5000x5000 px as they mentioned
I don't know why they are neglecting me
anyhow I fed up with creating a new account in design crowd
Everyone should avoid this site - both clients and designers. From my experience, it's a SCAM.As a professional designer myself, I played some contests on DesignCrowd last year and haven't received payment for my winning design ever since (it's almost a year now!). The client is probably already using my design, but it showed up that I did it for free. Well, I'm not that bothered I designed something for free, I'm used to it when I participate in a contest - sometimes you don't win and it's absolutely fine (it's part of the fun, actually :). What bothers me though is the client couldn't receive fully professional service thanks to this and in fact, they probably use my designs without even having full rights for them because of this situation. Which I can't solve myself, because DesignCrowd support stopped responding to my e-mails (like months ago). Therefore, I doubt anyone could find good and experienced designer there - the good ones leave DesignCrowd ASAP and have good reasons for it...The mechanics probably goes like this: just few of designers win (like anywhere else, but here are bad/inexperienced/unprofessional designers from poor countries the majority and there's a lot of them) >> just some of them would receive their payments for their winning designs >> just few of them complain (they're used to losing, so they don't bother that much they don't get their money) >> no one finds out >> perfect scam (and mostly on designers from poor countries, which is even more terrible). And funny fact - on a different contest, I've received participates payment in a few days after a winner was chosen - it was just few Euros, so it probably didn't hurt DesignCrowd that much. This, at first, convinced me they're trustworthy platform for design contests, so I decided to participate on yet another contests thanks to it. And this is probably part of the technique they're using - pay just those participator prices and just sometimes the winners. It can work quite nicely this way, and is probably working like this for quite a long time.Long story short - no matter you're a designer or a client, rather find literally ANY OTHER platform to work with - there is a lot of them and I doubt it could be by far that terrible experience as it would be with DesignCrowd.
I was a member of DesignCrowd as a designer until recently. I found that they take too much of the contest money with their fees. This is not upfront, so a designer thinks that they are receiving the full contest amount, but actually receive less. DesignCrowd are also terrible at managing contests and some are left in limbo with no winners for years, without being closed or any designers paid. I have now closed my account after they sent my payment to the incorrect account. When I enquired about the error, Support staff were dismissive, condescending and refused to cancel the incorrect payment and reprocess it to my account. I would not recommend this platform to any serious designers.
I'm involved in logo designing for the past 5+ years. Recently a friend of mine recommended trying designcrowd and so I made my first account yesterday and started to browse the logo design contest. I also posted around 5 designs for 3 different projects. Out of 5 designs, only one was accepted by the designcrowd team.Out of the 4 rejected designs, 2 designs were in line with the description of the contest holder description. But, the designcrowd quality team flagged/rejected my design with a very vague reason "Design contains generic or overused concepts, or is lacking a concept". They didn't even try to match my logos with the contest holder description. Just like that they are flagging/rejecting which is totally unfair. Also, you mentioned in your article that your logo designed by the designer looks similar to some existing design. You still accepted that design right.. why did you accept because it satisfied your taste.
If that designer joins the designcrowd and post design similar to the design he made for you, the designcrowd quality team will simply reject stating too generic. My question is whether the design is generic or not let it be decided by the contest holder and not by the designcrowd team. Also, the quality team is not even replying in a polite manner. Their reply is a bit on the harsh manner.I've seen many designs that are not even up to the par posted on several contest hosted on designcrowd website but those designers are allowed to post successfully but my designs are rejected which is truly unfair.
DesignCrowd exploits your privacy and is not worth the money
I launched a private campaign a few months ago for a logo design for a new fitness company, and the first thing I discovered was that MOST of the designers are from places like India, Pakistan etc and they barely speak enough English to understand the parameters for your campaign. The second thing I discovered is that MANY designer's photos in their portfolio are not their own work, you learn that very fast when they submit design options and the work is on par with a beginner AND then you photo search some of their portfolio photos and discover they stole someone's work and passing it off as their own.I just discovered my very private campaign and logo design is searchable on Google, I was never made aware of this and NOW they want me to pay $49 to make it private?!? They exploit customer's privacy and don't make it know that everything will be open for public viewing! I never would have imagined my private project would be put on display ... Unbelievable. There are SO many other better options for crowdsourcing. Go elsewhere!
