Are Liquid Web and Nexcess the same company?
Legally yes. Operationally, not so much. Liquid Web bought Nexcess to provide services that Liquid Web was probably too busy to maintain. Nexcess operates its own data centers, and has a lot of its own software.
It also has a separate team for managing tech support, account management, and that sort of thing. Nexcess does (some of) the work, Liquid Web makes (all of) the money.

Does Liquid Web have shared hosting?
Again, yes and no. The shared hosting is provided by the Nexcess “division,” if you will. It’s an odd distinction, I’ll grant you. The fact that Nexcess retains some autonomy, and a lot of its own branding, tends to muddy the waters.
The point is, I guess, that you can get from Liquid Web’s home page to some shared hosting. If you’re looking for a less confusing experience, check out our list of the best web hosting services.

Is Liquid Web good for WordPress?
Yes. While WordPress can technically run just fine on all major server technologies, Liquid Web / Nexcess’ servers have been specifically designed and optimized to run WordPress, along with a handful of other CMS. That’s why Liquid Web made our list of the best managed WordPress hosting services.
That sort of specialization means that WordPress will run better on these servers than most others.
