MyHostKart is fine, but fine is not good enough. While MyHostKart is a decent web host, you can get better quality hosting at a cheaper price with Hostinger, for example.
MyHostKart is a small hosting company with big ambitions, powerful servers, and a green approach to hosting. Though not a world leader in the hosting market, it’s a respectable hosting service that delivers powerful and reliable hosting solutions to Indian customers at low prices.
MyHostKart’s website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
When signing up with a new host, you want not only fast and reliable services but also a familiar environment. MyHostKart’s Linux web hosting comes with the familiar cPanel control panel plus the following features:
- Addon domains
- DNS zone editor
- PHP/HTML support
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- FTP Accounts
- Web/FTP statistics
The aforementioned cPanel’s features, tools, and wizards make it easy for you to make and manage your websites, emails, e-stores, and custom web apps. You can secure web files with passwords, enable email spam protection, import files with the web-based file manager, and more. And if you’re not that confident with cPanel, you’ll find a wealth of information on the web to guide you through every step.
You are solely responsible for securing your website/emails and backing up your files. SSL certificates and anti-spam can help with the former, and instant backups are available for the latter. MyHostKart’s servers are powered by CloudLinux with a 24/7 monitoring service to ensure 99.9% availability at all times.
Resellers can make money by selling hosting services at cheap rates. Discounted plans come with unlimited storage, cPanel/WHM, free billing software, and (on some plans) a free website builder to incentivize your customers.
Pricing and Support
MyHostKart seems able to keep prices low even as its users grow, which seems to be causing customers to flock to the company in droves. Converting the Indian rupee prices into U.S. dollars makes you realize how cheap the hosting plans are.
You get more features and unlimited resources when you sign up for Personal or Unlimited hosting rather than the Starter plan. If a preconfigured plan doesn’t suit you, you can create your own custom plans by specifying the disk space, monthly bandwidth, number of subdomains and emails, SQL databases, and domains. There is no online configurator, but merely an invitation to contact the company for a quote:
While some hosts charge setup fees, this is not so for MyHostKart, which has zero fees and no hidden charges. Billing is on an annual basis but there are no apparent opportunities to test-drive the services apart from an online cPanel demo.
Technical support is not 24/7 as I would hope, so you have to reach out to the team via live chat or email during working hours, or send an email or support ticket out of hours. If you’re looking for self-support resources, you’ll be disappointed (as I was) to see that the knowledge base link leads to an error page.
