Having started out as a web development agency in Denmark, iRedHOST has expanded its offerings to include web hosting and private servers. This firm also creates modules for Joomla websites.
iRedHOST serves customers around the world from its English language website.
Features and Ease of Use
As a new iRedHOST customer, you get plenty of tools and features to kickstart your web projects. The easy-to-use control panel provides full control over your hosting space, databases, emails, and websites. Your hosting account also gives you access to the following features:
- Hundreds of e-mail accounts
- One-click script installer
- MySQL databases
- Automatic Joomla upgrades
- Up to 25 GB of storage space
Although iRedHOST platform is optimized for Joomla, you can still host any kind of CMS-backed website, blog, or online store.
It’s easy to forget that your website needs updating, especially if it’s backed by a CMS such as WordPress or Joomla. Fortunately, iRedHOST will automatically upgrade your Joomla installation for free.
This host also performs year-round nightly backups of databases and files, so — if the worst should happen — you can restore simply by contacting support. You also purchase external backups as an addon, but beware that these can take up to 24 hours to restore.
Pricing and Support
Hosting services are provisioned within 24 hours, and dedicated servers take up to seven days to set up, which means that setup takes much longer than with most other hosts.
You get free hosting for two months when you sign up for a year, but there are no refunds for any subscriptions, so there’s no point trying to cancel part way through your term. If you exceed the traffic limits for your plan, you will be automatically upgraded to a higher plan and billed for it unless you request a reversion to your previous plan. This could be seen as a good or a bad thing.
With more than 15 years of hosting experience to its name, iRedHOST’s support team should be more than capable of answering your questions and resolving your hosting issues. However, apart from a telephone number and email address in small text at the bottom of the website, contact details seem to be scarce, and submitting a ticket requires you to log in first. If you go looking for self-support resources, you’ll be disappointed because the knowledge base contains only one article:
