Founded in 1996, Ip Evolution provides a range of services, including web hosting, IT security, trade marketing, website design and development, and IT consultancy. The company is based in Italy.
Ip Evolution’s servers are located in Italy, France, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Its website is available in Italian only.
Features and Ease of Use
For hosting, Ip Evolution offers shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, cloud servers, and co-location. For the sake of this review, I’ll focus more on its shared hosting, which it offers in two categories with four plans each. They provide the following features:
- 99.8% / 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Weekly/daily automatic backups on some plans
- Free domain registration
- 10 to unlimited add-on domains on the pro plans
- Up to 1000GB monthly traffic
- Anywhere from 250MB to 20GB
Ip Evolution provides DirectAdmin control panel to shared hosting customers. It’s one of the easiest and most stable management panels. I like its simplicity and user-friendly interface with all options located in top navigation menus. You don’t have to be tech-savvy to understand it.
Also, it provides a one-click installer for web applications. If you’re on the Pro plans, you get to use this tool, but if you are in the basic shared hosting plans, you don’t have access to an installer and will have to figure out manual installations on your own.
Another restricted feature is automatic backups. Although all Pro customers get daily backups, only those on the top plan under Basic hosting get automatic backups and that is weekly. Every other person will have to create manual backups from their DirectAdmin panel because you can’t even set cron jobs as those are also only available to Pro customers.
If you are on the starter plan, you’ll have to stick with an HTML & CSS website. Other plans allow the use of PHP for programming, but that’s all that you get.
Also, it provides disk mirroring to Pro customers, which is great for reliability in a case where the main drive fails. However, for the basic shared hosting, there is no disk mirroring. Adding to this reliability feature is DDoS attack prevention and firewalls on all plans.
Pricing and Support
Ip Evolution offers high prices for its shared hosting plans. Furthermore, it doesn’t offer a monthly subscription period; billing starts from 12 months at a time. Frankly, you’ll get lower prices and shorter durations elsewhere.
However, the free domain, data mirroring, and other features might be enough of a reason for you to take a plan. Fortunately, it provides a 30-day money-back guarantee on all shared hosting plans so you’re assured of a refund if you’re not satisfied.
Although there’s a knowledge base section, it’s empty and without the tutorials that customers would need. You’ll have to contact support and even that is not available 24/7. You can get through to the support agents through phone on Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
There’s also an email address which I attempted to use to contact support, but there was no response.
