Californian company Hostica has been providing hosting services and domain registration since 1999. It claims to be “miles above the rest,” and its target market is small to medium-sized businesses.
Hostica’s modern-looking website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
Hostica sells shared Linux and Windows hosting, dedicated servers, cloud hosting, email hosting, SSL certificates, and domain registration. This full-service host makes the following core features available:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Daily automatic R1Soft backups
- Domain registration available
- Either one or unlimited add-on domains
- SSL certificates available
- From 1 GB to unlimited disk space
Hostica runs its hosting on proven software, including the cPanel control panel, the Softaculous one-click installer (with 150 installable programs), and the R1Soft backup manager. The LiteSpeed Web Server means your website should load nine times faster than with Apache, and the SSD storage should be ten times faster than traditional HDD storage.
Hostica’s servers are located in large, well-known data centers around the world that use Amazon’s AWS. This host offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which is around the industry average.
Pricing and Support
Hostica’s pricing is interesting. You can grab a bargain if you can survive with 1 GB of web space and one domain. But you’ll pay the price if you’re looking for an unlimited plan. Almost everything else costs extra, so you can expect to pay for a domain name or SSL certificate.
For an affordable host, the support is good, but not as exceptional as its website suggests. The knowledge base is empty, and the live chat was not live when I wanted to try it. However, my message was followed up by email about an hour later. Other contact channels include telephone, ticket, email, and social media.
