    iFreelance Review

Why has iFreelance, without warning, disappeared from the web? I can find no reference to what has happened to the site and I've had no reply to my emails to service@iFreelance.com. It seems the payments are now not being taken from my bank account b ut I can't contact the admin team to check .... Oddly, I am still receiving project alerts by email from iFreelance but the links are not active. I don't understand how project alerts can be sent for bidding for freelance work from a website that doesn't exist! Can you advise me, as you promote this website via Website Planet.Thank you.Helena

    iFreelance Review

I ordered the GOLD package from this company thinking it was really going to help me boost my visibility on what I thought was a superior freelancer site (i.e. freelancer, com, elance.com). Well, not long after I spent $117 on this super duper package , I come to notice that there aren't many job offerings and quite frankly, the site itself is laid out pretty poorly. Even I, who as a number of skills to be considered - found it exponentially difficult to find matching projects on this site as opposed to a site like freelancer.com, where I literally find a match every 10 seconds. So, that being said I contacted Customer Support not more than 3 days later and asked to cancel. I assumed I'd get my money back, at the very least pro-rated, after all - what's fair is fair. The company denied me any refund pointing out there service policy of no reunds, not even pro-rated. I was irate. I'm like, okay I understand that companies write policies but we all know that in certain circumstances, these policies can be easily overridden by the proper management level. So I take my case to PayPal, they investigate but of course I come out denied because of the technicality that their service agreement says no refunds. Let me also point out, (a) no one ever reads the service agreement on the first go around (2) when I spoke to the customer support guy when cancelling, he should have warned/reminded me that I would not be receiving any money back and therefore it would be beneficial to just keep my annual account anyway considering there would be nothing I could do to gain any funds back anyway.I am deeply disappointed in PayPal for not fighting form me harder, but I am extraordinarily pissed off at this PATHETIC excuse for a company called ifreelance.com, that took my entire $117 after 3 days of non-use and they don't feel bad about it in the least.

    Overview

High Quality Work That Comes With a Price

One major issue that affects freelance sites these days are spam accounts, job posting and applicants. Some freelance sites that used to pave the way at the top of fallen due to the quality it offers and that is why iFreelance have a different way of dealing with spammers.

If you really want a secure service with the best quality of work then the only answer is to stick a pay wall up, which iFreelance have done. With fairly high monthly fees, they provide access to the best freelancers in the business, with no cheap workers in sight.

    Why Choose iFreelance?

    • All the freelancer profiles and projects are supervised by the site to avoid frauds
    • Competent work is guaranteed
    • No hassle or spam

    The Review Factors:

    Pricing

    5.5

    You Are On Your Own

The only fees charged at iFreelance are the monthly account maintenance fees. There is lots of complaining on the web about the fact that iFreelance is trying to be too cheap charging so much for every additional section of the side one would like to add to his or her working field. However, the prices are very modest and let’s face it – if you’re unable to invest from $4 to $9 a month into an undertaking of getting the best freelancers work on your project, then maybe iFreelance is just not the right place for you.

    • Payment System
    • Payment Protection
    • Payment Disputes

iFreelance doesn’t interfere with your business, which means that you don’t get to directly work with the freelancers and conduct the pay through the site. This means less hassle about the inputting and withdrawing money and a piece of good news for any Escrow haters out there. Indeed, no payment system means no Escrow either. This all can be very convenient for those having their own payment options handy and also looking to maybe avoid paying some taxes (depending on your country or residence) as other larger freelance sites are hell-bent on delivering the tax money to the government.

Due to the fact that you have to arrange lot of payment-related thing yourself iFreelance is just about screaming that it is not quite the site for total freelancing newbies to hire some manpower because seasoned freelancers are a rather cynical folk.

13 Areas of Expertise Ready For Your Business

Whether you are on the hunt for top-notch coders, graphic designers or creative writers, you will find them all at iFreelance. They dont specialise in absolutely everything that is out there, but focus in on the artistic jobs such as illustrations, web designs and so forth.

The idea of iFreelance is to provide the best workers with companies that are prepared to pay for the best workers. So, essentially, if you are tight-fisted, or want to keep purse strings tight then iFreelance wont be for you.

A simple precaution of monthly fees (starting from $4.69) sifts away a great deal of the numerous, but inefficient workers that have occupied many of the other giant freelance websites. The necessity of the payment during the very registration process insures that those registering have a valid credit card for international transaction and are able to actually pay for the services of the site. However, the monthly fees is the only thing that the sites charges for its services – once you’re a legit member of iFreelance you are free to interact with the other members the way you want – just bear in mind that you’ll only have access to the specific work category you indicated during the registration – access to other areas would mean another basic account  for another section or purchase of premium  membership (called “gold” at iFreelance). There is also some heavy censorship concerning what is being posted on the site to ensure the convenience and safety of your work through iFreelance.

There are around 1,500 freelancers registered on the site and about 20-30 work projects get posted every day. This doesn’t mean that the things are slow on iFreelance – you are welcome to browse through the freelancers’ profiles and invite them to bid on your specific working project.

    Furious Segregation

The classic scheme of “the more you pay –  the more you get” is alive and well at iFreelance. You are not going to get too many useful features with a basic account, which will only let you more or less survive as an active member of the site, but is unlikely to land you any real freelancers you are looking for. The moment you register you are asked to define the category you’ll be dealing with and to add – let’s say – an option to browse translators’ profiles in addition to your initial registration as that of interested in technical writers will demand a considerable upgrade of your account level.

ifreelance doesn’t act as a go-between for you and your freelancer – instead of commissioning on every monetary transaction you make, it only takes its monthly fees and leaves you and the freelancer the hell alone. It is for you to figure out the way to seal the deal and arrange the payment procedure.

I Dare You, I Double-dare You to Register

The moment you opt for posting a project or looking for a job through iFreelance you’ll be taken to a very long and detailed form asking you to fill it. You’ll be asked tons of questions relevant and when you think that you’re lucky enough to get in you’ll be asked to pay. No money – no honey, you won’t be allowed even to browse around in “read-only” mode until you pay at least the minimal monthly fees. This scares away a lot of new freelancers and it also left an unsettling impression on us because we keep receiving e-mails suggesting us to complete the registration of  fake account – what if they will indeed find us and kill us?

The navigation on the site is rather tricky despite its seemingly simplistic looks. A huge gap in the usability reveals itself the moment you find the first freelancer fit for your project – you can’t PM him or her – the only option to write to your prospective worker is to invite that freelancer to bid on your job posting. Doesn’t seem to polite asking people to beg you for a job out of the blue, does it?

    Pros Don’t Cry!

Judging by the fact that iFreelance charges monthly fees it would have been only natural to assume that a site for pros would feature top-notch tech support. But in fact it turns out vice versa – you only get an e-mail support easily contactable through every page of the site with the help of pressing the “contact” icon. Get your time zone calculator handy as the tech support will only process your tickets 6 am – 5 pm Pacific time, Monday to Friday. You can expect an answer within one business day, though sometimes it may take slightly longer. But you are a pro on a pro-freelance site, right? So stop complaining and prepare for the waiting.

    • Tech support easily reachable through every page
    • Always there for you during specific business hours
    • No live-chat
    • No forum
    • No phone support
    • Sometimes getting an answer may take a lot of time

    Review Summary by Robert Turner

This is a site for those who have some prior experience in dealing with freelancers and who now want to find some real professionals who know exactly what to do and how the world of freelancing works. This is definitely worth the monthly fees charged by iFreelance. The structure of the site and your functions on it are very rigid, but you can slightly oil your way to the top lists and freelancers through purchasing the premium (“gold”) account with additional paid features. iFreelance is a great choice for those looking for pro artists and writers with impressive portfolios. Newcomers to the freelancing world should gain some experience elsewhere before they opt for iFreelance, otherwise it will turn out as nothing but a huge disappointment and a waste of money.
